Mary Greig

April 17, 1944 - December 30, 2018

Mary Carol Greig, 74, of Beaumont, died Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Memorial Hermann Medical Center, Houston. She was born on April 17, 1944, in Victoria, to Ethel Marie Moore and Willis Monroe Brewer.

She attended college at the University of Houston, where she majored in English and History and was a member of the Chi Omega sorority. Upon graduation, she taught secondary English at schools in Houston, Wilmington, Delaware, and Beaumont.

Mary Carol was active in several volunteer and social organizations, including Some Other Place, Beaumont Junior Forum, and Chi Omega Alumni Association. She had a strong interest in genealogy and was particularly proud of her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution.

The true joy of Mary Carol’s life was her family. She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Carl “Buddy” Greig, of Beaumont; sons, David Greig and his wife, Angela, of Mableton, Georgia, and Bradley Greig and his wife, Sharon, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Andrew Greig and Elisabeth Greig, both of Mableton, Georgia, and Emily Greig, of Beaumont.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Marie Laughter; and her father, Willis Brewer.

A Christian Vigil for Mrs. Greig will begin at 5:00 p.m., with her gathering to follow until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Friday, January 4, 2019, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont, with her interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
