On May 1, 2019 I had an accident on the Pickleball court. Melanie took me to ER and stayed with me until my Daughter arrived. She and Kevin made sure I was getting treated and lightened up ER. During that period she set up meals on wheels for me for a week. I will always remember the kind deed. She will be missed.

I was on staff at Nutrition and Services for Seniors responsible for finding volunteers to deliver Meals on Wheels. Melanie called and said she wanted to help. She was such a delight, always had a smile and full of cheer. She often took extra routes when we were short of drivers. I know her clients felt like sunshine was delivered along with their lunch. It is such a gift to have someone like Melanie touch my life. Heaven will be more fun with her arrival. I know her life will forever be a blessing to her family. I hold you in my heart.

We will miss you soooooo much. You were always the life of the party at get togethers, would make everyone feel welcome and never was a stick in the mud or a fuddy duddy. Keep on living the afterlife to the fullest just like you did when you were here with us on earth. Our family won’t be the same without you.

MELANIE ( NUNIE), I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT YOU HAVE GONE. YOU DEFINITELY GAINED YOUR WINGS. WE HAD SO MANY FUN BUS TRIPS TOGETHER, ESPECIALLY THE ONE TO SEA RIM STATE PARK, ,ESPECIALLY WHEN WE WENT IN THE WATER WITH OUR NETS. YOU MADE EVERYTHING A JOY. I AM SURE YOU HAVE HEAVEN ROLLING. UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN. RIP ANGEL

Linda J Suddath.

Rita, we were so sorry to hear about your mom. She was such a lively, fun-loving, slightly wild lady. I never saw her in a bad mood and never left a meeting angry or bored if she was present. We are sorry to have missed the service but just found out late Thursday night. We've never done the "Facebook thing" and since we retired it is as if we fell off the face of the earth. Of course, I remember you as Rita Thornton.....one of my "best and brightest" and one of my all time favorites. It is very hard to say any words that will ease the pain of such a loss but know that we, and so many others, wish you strength, peace, and love.

Mackenzie Finley

To Rita and Family I am so sorry to hear about Melanie. She was like a second mom to me. She always made me feel so welcome in your home. Sending all my love and prayers. Love, MacKenzie and the Finley family
