Merle Laverne Kucera
Merle Laverne Kucera, 89, of Hillister, died Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Tyler County Hospital, Woodville, Texas. She was born on March 26, 1931, to Freda Karasek Rieger and Joseph Rieger, in Wallis, Texas.
Merle loved working in her flower garden. She was an avid deer hunter and also loved to saltwater fish. She will be greatly missed by all.
Survivors include her sons, Greg Kucera and his wife, Vicki and Mark Kucera and his wife, Lois; daughter, Debbie Overstreet and her husband, Walter; sister, Willie Mae Brewer; grandchildren, Leigha Kucera, Megan Walzel, Matthew Kucera, and Cory Overstreet; and two great-grandchildren, Savanna Walzel and Sylvi Sims.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life for sixty-eight years her husband, Sylvester J. Kucera.
A family graveside service for Mrs. Kucera will be held at Pine Ridge Cemetery, Kountze, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to her longtime caregiver, Calvin Bourque.
