Morris Moore
Morris Herman Moore, 83, of Lakeway, Texas passed away on December 24, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Crockett, Texas to Herman and Verene Moore and was the youngest of five children. A lifelong lover of cars, he left home at 14 and ventured out to build a life, which eventually led him here to the Southeast Texas community, where he owned and operated Morris Moore Chevrolet, home of the #1 Moore Better Deal, for 50 years. While his name is known to hundreds of people in and around our area for the contributions he made to the community and for his own accomplishments, his heart, who he was at his core and who he was to us, his family, is what we will carry with us always. In our lives, he is simply Dad, Pop, Grandpa, “MM” and “Moore”, an inspiration in our lives, someone who made us laugh, and an example of what a life well-lived should be.
In his life, a sense of adventure, fun and enjoyment were present in his interests, work and hobbies: there were few things he enjoyed more than classic cars, boat races, cross-country road trips in his bus and motorcycle tours. He loved all things about cars, and especially talking about them with his friends in his classic car club on Fridays.
Morris was the life of the party, he loved dancing and he loved spending time with his friends and family, his people. If he was laughing, you were, too. If he smiled at you, you smiled back. That’s the epitome of who he was: a bright light everyone loved to be around.
A true force to be reckoned with, he never took no for an answer, he always believed in “better” and he showed us how important it is to do what you love, no matter what. His strength, resilience and his determined, generous spirit impacted the lives of so many people over the years, and his legacy is one as extraordinary as he was.
He is preceded in death by his sons, Jimmy Moore and Danny Moore, and his great-grandson, Chandler Duvail.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 33 years, Linda Moore, son Ronald Moore of Galveston, son Mike Moore and wife Kimberly of Lumberton, daughter Donna Moore and husband Lawrence Coetzee of Lumberton, and son David Smith and wife Elizabeth of Austin, along with his six grandchildren: granddaughter Kristin Winzer and husband Eric of Lumberton; granddaughter Haley Morgan and husband Dustin of Silsbee; granddaughter Karli Kasher of Silsbee; granddaughter Amber Moore of Carlsbad, California; granddaughter Skylar Smith of Austin and grandson Trevor Smith of Austin. He is also survived by his three great-grandchildren, Kip Winzer, Addison Winzer and Olivia Morgan.
A gathering of Mr. Moore’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at Broussard’s Mortuary, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His celebration of life will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Broussard’s, with entombment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

Oh my, my heart is hurting to have lost another one of my and Tommy’s treasured friends. Morris was one of our first car friends. Tommy and Morris ‘SUPER’ could get into more than any two should but laugh and love all the way through their latest shenanigans.
