Ora Mae “Grandy” Knight

Ora Mae “ Grandy” Knight, 95, of Nederland, died, Sunday, February 23, 2020. She was born October 9, 1924, in Port Arthur, to Aline Saltzman Broussard and Hypolite Broussard.

During her earlier years, Ora Mae loved cooking and caring for her family. Some of her favorite things to do were to play Scrabble and to do crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her children, Roy L. “Barney” Bernard and his wife, Sigrid, of Bandera, Texas; Fletcher H. Knight and his wife, Terry, of Austin; Nancy Knight Thaggard, of Port Arthur; Jennifer Lynn Knight, of Nederland; and Cynthia Knight, of Colorado; fourteen grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren.

Ora Mae is preceded in death by her parents, Aline and Hypolite Broussard; husband, James Virgil Knight; and daughter, Carol Knight Broussard.

A gathering of Mrs. Knight’s family and friends will be 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 27, 2020, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 28, 2020, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
