Pam Melton

March 24, 1950 - June 25, 2021

Pam Melton, 71, of Beaumont, died Friday, June 25, 2021. She was born on March 24, 1950, in Houston, to Dorothy Henderson and Thomas Wood.

Survivors include her husband of forty-five years, John Melton, Jr.; daughter, Genia Miles and her husband, Albert; son, Cody Lee Melton; daughter, Brittney Miller and her husband, Quincy; son, Colt Melton; and grandchildren, Bradley Miles, Braden Miles, Declan Miller, Colt Melton, Jr., and Kaisyn Felton.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Barbara Jean Fenske.

A native of Houston, Pam attended Spring Branch High School where she excelled in twirling and the clarinet. A lover of The Beatles, she enjoyed reminiscing about attending the Beatles’ first and only concerts in Houston in August of 1965.

She and John relocated to Hickory, North Carolina shortly after their wedding to be closer to John’s family. She gave birth to their first daughter, Genia, before heading back to southeast Texas – first to Bay City before settling in the Golden Triangle. They bought their first home in 1986 and remained there through her final days.

Pam had a huge heart for animals, embodying the motto “Rescued is my favorite breed.” Once her children were grown, she began a cat rescue and was responsible for saving more than four dozen lost, stray and feral cats – and befriended a handful of rabbits, raccoons, opossums and turtles just to spice things up a bit.

Pam took immense pride in her children and grandchildren. She never missed an opportunity to boast of their accomplishments, both large and small, to anyone who would listen – neighbors, grocery clerks, random people in elevators. She never met a stranger and everyone was fair game.
