Prayoon Pinyo Lee

January 26, 1951 - September 25, 2017

Prayoon Pinyo Lee, 66, of Vidor, died Monday, September 25, 2017, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on January 26, 1951, in Thailand, to Whan Pomah Pinyo and Sawang Pinyo.

Prayoon is survived by her husband, Thomas Kyle Lee; daughters, Christie Rascoe and her husband, Eric; and Rose Johnson and her husband, William; grandchildren, Austin Tibbs, Alex Tibbs, Ethan Rascoe, Hagan Rascoe, Reagan Johnson and Wyatt Rascoe; and several brothers and sisters.

She is preceded in death by her parents; and in-laws, Anna and Frank Lee.

Yoon, as she was lovingly known as, was a long-time resident of Vidor where she and Kyle have lived since their retirement from the Army in 1991. Yai was her grandchildren’s biggest fan. She attended every event her grandchildren were involved in, from elementary school musicals and Pinewood derbies, to football games and graduations. Yoon was an avid gardener and the caretaker of the neighborhood hummingbirds. Yoon had a natural talent and love of cooking. With her keen sense of taste, she was able to doctor any dish perfectly. She shared her love by feeding everyone who stopped by for a “wisit”. She even shared some of her famous Thai recipes with a lucky few. It’s because of these recipes that her legacy will live on through her daughters and nieces.

A gathering of Mrs. Lee’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, September 29, 2017, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 30, 2017, at Broussard’s, immediately followed by her committal at Broussard’s Crematorium, 5150 Stivers Drive, Beaumont.

I was a friend to Yoon's daughter Christie, and I met Yoon when I would sleepover at their home on Ft. Carson in Colorado. As soon as I would get in the door, Yoon would be at the stove, turn and say, "Jayce, you like flied lice?" I remember the three of us laughing, because the first time she asked I looked frantically at Christie like "flied lice?"! So it became a joke between Christie and I from then on. I remember Mr. Lee always being so serious and intimidating, and Yoon so lighthearted and carefree..I will always remember my times at the Lee house on Ft. Carson, and can't imagine just how much she will be missed. I'm sorry, Mr. Lee, Christie, and Rose, and to your families as well for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

I was honored to call Yoon, friend. I am a lucky recipient of several of her recipes, although my dishes quite don't measure up!. She was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with Kyle, Christie, Rosie and their families. Good speed Yoon.

Yoon always handy with a smile. Never complained about anything. Food was her specialty and love was her gift to us all. She constanttly had a jigsaw puzzle on the table and piece by piece she would fit the pieces together and make a beautiful picture. This is much how she lived her life. Piece by piece. Putting Kyle together. Keeping Aunt Anna in high spirits. Giving Christie and Rose a shining example of what a wife/mother/grandmother should be. Yoon has left a legacy that shall live through generations. She will be missed here but I know we shall meet again in a place called Beulah Land. Our love and prayers are with you Kyle and the family. We'll see you when we get there Yoon.

We will always remember Toon's beautiful smile, cheerful attitude, and welcoming spirit. She and Kyle welcomed our family into their home many times over the years. We always enjoyed learning from Yoon and feeling her genuine warmth. We will miss her.
