Raymond Earl Martin

Raymond Earl Martin, 90, of Stowell, went with his Lord after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, October 7, 2017, in Houston. He was born on March 28, 1927, in Hemphill, to Emma Ruth and William Raymond Martin.

Raymond was a veteran, having served in the United States Navy during World War II, on the USS Hancock CV-19 and was a Kamikaze survivor. Raymond married his beloved wife, Ramona June Rasbury Martin on August 10, 1946, in Monroe, Louisiana. His love of hunting and offshore fishing kept him enjoying life until the very end.

He is survived by his loving wife, Ramona Martin; sister, Elsie Marie Martin; daughters, June Martin, Carol Metzger and her husband, David, and Donna Martin; grandchildren, Jessica Culver, Brad Hargraves, Kelly Hargraves, Tyler Engel, and Julie Montgomery; ten great-grandchildren; and daughters-in-Christ, Lisa Fazekas and Jennifer Newman.

He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Gary Earl Martin; and two brothers.

A gathering of Mr. Martin’s family and friends will begin at 12:00 noon, Tuesday, October 10, 2017, followed by his funeral, at 2:00 p.m., at First United Methodist Church, 1709 SH 124, Winnie. Interment to follow at Fairview Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin, Beaumont.
