Retha Mae Valere

Retha Mae Valere, 79, of Winnie, died Thursday, June 17, 2021. She was born on February 22, 1942, to Marie Eva Goodwin Thomas and Curley Joseph Thomas, in Crowley, Louisiana. Retha was baptized at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Mowata, Louisiana.

Survivors include her husband of thirty-one years, Harry Lee Harmon of Winnie; sisters, Mary Gail Thomas and Celestine Thomas, both of Rayne Louisiana and Mercy Vallery of Eunice, Louisiana; brother, Louis Billy Thomas of Duson, Louisiana; and host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Doris Guillory; and brothers, Curley Joseph Thomas, Jr. and Leo Claude Thomas.

A gathering of Mrs. Valere’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Time of Sharing at 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 25, 2021, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. A gathering of her family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with a recited at 10:30 a.m., and a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, 29057 Crowley Eunice Highway, Eunice, Louisiana. Her interment will follow at St. Lawrence Catholic Church Cemetery, Mowata, Louisiana.
