Richard Morreale

September 22, 1965 - October 14, 2019

After a courageous 19-month battle with cancer, Richard Turner Morreale passed away on October 14, 2019.

A loyal “Pirate” all his life, Richard attended Vidor High School, class of 84’. After high school he graduated from Lamar Institute of Technology in Radiology and then went on to obtain his Bachelors of Radiology and completed the postgraduate RA Program at Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. He has worked in the radiology community in Beaumont for over 30 years.

He was a natural born leader with a gift of bringing a smile to people’s faces. His pride and joy were his four sons. He was very active in his boys’ lives by coaching teams and supporting their schools as much as possible. He made many lifelong friends doing things that he loved, such as playing rugby, golfing, fishing, and bowling on Wednesday nights. He loved all sports, most of all football. He never missed the chance to cheer on his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Richard was a loving husband and father, survived by his wife, April; four sons, Logan, Luke, Landon, and Layton; sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Rodney Bailleaux; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Joyce and Bill Owens; brother-in-law, Brad Owens; nephews, Jake Bailleaux (Ginny); Cayden, Parker, and Brody Owens; niece, Samantha Owens and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in California and Texas.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Morreale; grandparents who raised him, Jessie and Pete Morreale.

Richards’s family would like to express their extreme gratitude for the compassion, care and friendship of Dr. Sumalatha Patibandla and her excellent staff; all of the physicians at Radiology Associates who have been gracious employers, caregivers, and friends; CHRISTUS St. Elizabeth Radiology, Cath Lab, and 4th floor Oncology for being so loving and attentive to his medical needs; and, of course, Mo’s Mob for supporting Richard and making him feel so special and loved during the past 19 months.

A Rosary for Mr. Morreale will be recited at 5:00 p.m., with a gathering of his family and friends to follow until 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 17, 2019, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 18, 2019, at St. Jude Thaddeus Catholic Church, 6825 Gladys Avenue, Beaumont. Please join the family following his service for food and fellowship in the parish hall of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 245 West Highway 90, China.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a bereavement fund for the Morreale Boys that has been created by friends of the family by making checks payable to Refusing to Tiptoe Ministries, P.O. Box 883 China, Texas 77613. If you would prefer, a donation can be made directly to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 in Richard’s memory.

So sad to hear the news of Richard's passing. I attended school from 6th grade through graduation with Richard. He was so funny and always had a kind word for everyone. He could make you smile even when you were not feeling happy. His smile was contagious and he was a friend to all. What a wonderful family he has and so many friends who truly loved him. I will be praying for his wife and sons for peace and comfort during the difficult days ahead.

April, You and your boys are in my thoughts and prayers. Remembering when you first started working at St. Elizabeth and you and Richard were dating, then got married, had children, then seeing you as my Luke was at Sour Lake Elementary and getting to see you again was a treat. I also share the memory of us laughing to know that not only were we friends but to find out that I actually graduated with your Mom (and many prayers for her also at this time). I have many wonderful memories of Richard with you but the one that stands out the most is when he had me bring my son and then daughter in law in on a Sunday to perform an ultrasound to determine the sex of my first grandbaby. He was right on when he said baby was a girl and then sure enough my sweet Baylee was born. I will miss seeing him at the Hardin Jefferson football games and so glad I was able to see both of you on "Mo's Mob" night a few weeks ago and will always remember his last smile and wave to me. You have been such a strong person thru all of this and so sorry you have had to endure this battle. I love you and wish the best for you and your boys. Rest in Peace Richard....glad you are no longer suffering but you will be missed by all.

Jennifer Buckley
