Robert Walter Murff

November 10, 1930 - October 4, 2020

Robert Walter Murff, 89, of China, TX, passed away on October 4, 2020. He is predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Della Murff; his father and mother, Walter and Orene Murff, brother, Olan Murff, and sister Nancy Murff.

Robert is survived by his brother, Jack Murff of Nacogdoches, TX; daughters, Nancy Murff of Corpus Christi, and Melissa Gallier and her husband, Ernie of Nederland, TX; and son, David Murff and his wife, Diana, of Houston, TX. Robert was affectionately known as Paw-Paw by his grandchildren, Michael Cody and Elizabeth Leblanc, Robert Leblanc and Desiree Mata, Virginia Poimboeuf, Alexander Murff, Maxamillian von Rettberg, Alexis von Rettberg, Michelle and Patrick Riley, Rebecca and Kaitlyn Hebb, Matthew Gallier, Travis Gallier, and Brixie Gallier. His great-grandchildren, Madyson Christan, Macey Leblanc, Maxmius Leblanc, Paxton Riley, and Forrest Leblanc all loved him dearly.

Robert was always involved with his children’s and grandkid’s school and extracurricular activities. Along with Della, he loved attending band performances, Dance Team competitions, and all manner of youth sports – there was no distance too far or time too busy if they could watch the kids and cheer them on. Over the years he worked as a machinist, a welder, a farmer, and retired as a truck driver. A jack-of-all-trades, Robert built their house in China from the ground up and loved nothing better than to tinker in his backyard barn.

A gathering of Mr. Murff’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, October 9, 2020, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Robert was the person that picked me up and brought me to RA's at China Baptist Church and he was the reason I accepted Christ as my personal Savoir at RA camp. I know he will have a Manion in Heaven.
