Roberta Layfield

Roberta Lucille Broom Fillingim Layfield, 88, of Kountze, died Wednesday, August 8, 2018. She was born on November 21,1929, in Saratoga, to Beulah Mae Laird and Jack Morgan Broom.

Survivors include her children, Dale Fillingim, of Silsbee; Beulah “Sissy” Grant and her husband, Edward, of Sour Lake; and Donny Fillingim, of Kountze; step-son, Dewayne Layfield and his wife, Carol, of Gulf Shores, Alabama; grandchildren, Regina Miller and her husband, Wayne; Angela Warrick and her husband, Daniel, all of Kountze; Afran Bullock and her wife, Shana, of Beaumont; Donald L. Fillingim, of Rusk; and Sarah Teska, of Pittsville, Maine; step-grandchildren, Savannah Layfield, Caroline Layfield, and Catherine Layfield, all of Alabama; great-grandchildren, Amanda Sanchez and her husband, Aaron, of Moulton; Michelle Arrington and her husband, Zack, of Orange; Amberly Warrick; Seth Warrick; Rebekah Warrick; Noah Warrick; Lori Warrick; Hallie Warrick; Abigail Warrick; Samuel Warrick; and Matthew Filmore; and great-great-grandchildren, Sadie Arrington and Ellie Sanchez; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roberta is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; one sister; first husband and father of her children, Mack Fillingim; and her second husband, James D. Layfield.

A gathering of Mrs. Layfield’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2018, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 11, 2018, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.
