Rosanna Streety

January 19, 1924 - January 31, 2017

Rosanna Olga DeInnocentis Streety, 93, of Beaumont, Texas, passed away on January 31, 2017. She was born January 19, 1924, in Boston, Massachusetts, to Geneva Marcelli DeInnocentis and Vincent DeInnocentis.

Rosanna enjoyed her childhood in Boston and Somerville, Massachusetts. She attended Boston University and met her future husband at a USO dance in Boston. The two married in Palestine, Texas in 1943 and soon located to Beaumont. As you can imagine, moving from Boston to Beaumont, Texas in 1943 was quite the adventure. She often said she practically melted her first couple of years, as she was not used to the Southeast Texas heat, or the huge tree roaches.

Rosanna always enjoyed opera, and, in her youth, she enjoyed attending the Boston Pops. Her father instilled these loves in her. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle fiend, and a jigsaw puzzle master. She also loved good conversation, pasta, and purses, or as they call them in New England, pocket books.

While she and her husband enjoyed traveling extensively, one her favorite places to be was the beach. Whether it was at Warham on Cape Cod, at her Auntie Tina’s in Scituate, or Crystal Beach on the Bolivar Peninsula, she loved the beach and said it is where she felt her greatest peace. She passed this love on to her daughter, Sharon.

As to her work life, she worked for quite a few years at Sun Oil Company. Later, when her husband Don went into business as a home builder and land developer, she worked as his secretary and extremely precise bookkeeper.

During her life, she was active in the Beta Sigma Phi sorority, and volunteered for several years at Some Other Place, and later was a St. Elizabeth Hospital volunteer working in different capacities. Rosanna was also a founding member of Trinity United Methodist Church, and was quite active in The Friendship Class. She often taught, and acted as class president.

Rosanna is survived by her husband of seventy three years, William Donald Streety; son, Steven Randolph Streety and his wife, Janie; and daughter, Sharon Elaine Carlisle and her husband, Michael, all of Beaumont; as well as two grandchildren, William Bonner Streety, and his wife, Ashley, of Dallas; and Carrie Lee Carlisle of Beaumont.

Rosanna’s family would like to thank the staff of Calder Woods Memory Care and Skilled Nursing Units and Buckner Hospice for their care and concern.

A gathering of Rosanna’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 3, 2017, at Broussard’s, with her interment to follow at Haven of Rest Cemetery, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Some Other Place, P.O. Box 843, Beaumont, Texas 77704.
