Roy W. "Bill" Maness

June 27, 1935 - January 12, 2021

Roy W. “Bill” Maness, 85, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2021. Born June 27, 1935, in Lake Charles, LA, to parents Roy and Jewel Maness. He graduated from Beaumont High School In 1954. Bill attended Texas A&M before joining the Army and serving in Korea 1955-1957. He worked at Gulf Supply Co. until his father sold the company in 1970. He and his father then started Maness Investments until his father’s death in 1976. His mother, Jewel, kept it active until her death in 1987.

Bill and Kathy married in 1978. Together they raised four children. Leslie Maness, Heath Maness and his wife Kasie, Jason Walker and his wife Celeste, and Rachael Cox and her husband Clay, they gave him eight grandchildren. He was known as “Poppy” to Sydney Stines, Alex Stines, Troy Stines, Jaycee Walker, Chelsea Cox, Caleb Cox, Kate Maness and Zach Maness.

Bill never met a stranger and always met you with open arms. His home was always filled with love and laughter. Family, friends, friends of friends, children’s friends and anyone else he met instantly were adopted into the family. He was loved by all who were blessed to know him.

He was our Superman.

He is survived by his wife, 4 children and 8 grandchildren. Also, his brother Tom Maness and his wife Kelli, his brother-in-law B.G. Reynolds, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Jewel Maness, sister Maryann Maness Reynolds, Brother Michael Maness and daughter Shannon Maness.

His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee 38105.
