Ruben Strother, Sr.

Ruben Fletcher Strother, Sr., 57, of Silsbee, died Wednesday, June 24, 2020. He was born on August 6, 1962, in Angleton, to Ruby May McCallay Strother and Fletcher Strother. Ruben was a sporting goods sales associate at Silsbee Walmart and he also was a member of Silsbee Fire and Rescue.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Strother; children, Larry Allen Strother and his wife, Tiffany; Ruben Strother, Jr., and his wife, Britni; and Amber Strother, all of Silsbee; brother, Jessie Sallas; sisters, Sandra Patton and Audrey Ledesma; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Ruben is preceded in death by his parents; and son, Nathan Strother.

A gathering of Mr. Strother’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 29, 2020, at Broussard’s, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Old Hardin Cemetery, Kountze.

    I am so sorry for your loss. I met Ruben through Judy back in her Frito Lay days. The whole family are awesome people. This was such a devastating blow to me when I heard about Rubens passing. Ruben was such a nice, genuine, and caring man. RIP. keep a watch over Judy and your babies until yall meet again.

    I knew him from wal-mart he always helped me with my paint.. very nice man...was willing and ready to help you..that's rare in this world...we need more like him.. very sorry for yalls loss...I know there's many that will miss him as well!!!

    I remember seeing him at Walmart. He always had a smile on his face and always remembered me a nd greeted me to his department by name. He was the example of an old fashioned sales person who went the extra mile to help the customer. Even when I saw him threw out the store. He always called me by name and asked how I was doing. Rest In Peace my friend.

    I remember always seeing him around Wal-Mart. Very nice person and will be very much missed. My sympathy goes out to his family and the Silsbee Fire Dept, for their loss. RIP your job is done. Just a regular Wal-Mart customer.
