Ruby Mary Porter

Ruby Mary Porter, 90, of Port Neches, died Thursday, May 20, 2021, at Silsbee Oaks Health Care. She was born July 8, 1930, in Beaumont, to Letney Roy Vice and Paul Vice.

Ruby met her husband, Sam, on a blind date and they were married for fifty-four years. She was a loving mother and homemaker to her three daughters, as well as an excellent cook. She was very creative and enjoyed sewing, gardening, and crafting.

Ruby is survived by her daughters, Karen Arnold, of Port Neches; Pattie Rodriguez, of Nederland; and Lisa Spears and husband, David, of Vidor; grandchildren, Jeremy Arnold; Joshua Rodriguez and wife, Lauren; Amber Phillips and husband, Ben; Tara Johnson and husband, Jeremy; Dustin Coody; Brandi Leatherwood and husband, Brian; and David Spears, Jr. and wife, Kimberly; and eleven great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Sam Porter; and sister, Patsy Vice.

 Her family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her caregivers for the last six years; Sue, Chris, Nancy and Roshanda. Their love and kindness in caring for Mrs. Porter is greatly appreciated.

A gathering of Mrs. Porter’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service at 2:00 p.m., Monday, May 24, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. Her interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
