Ruston Leger

Ruston J. “Rusty” Leger, 83, of Sour Lake, died Thursday, March 22, 2018, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. He was born on March 1, 1935, to Ella Terro Leger and Nolan Leger, in Jennings, Louisiana. Rusty worked at Oil City Tractors from 1958 in the parts department until he bought the business in 1969.

Survivors include his wife, Beverly Leger; daughter, Dianne McClusky and her husband, Mike, of Sour Lake; Sandra Leger of Beaumont’ and Madlyn Sykes and her husband, Miles, of Sour Lake; sons, Bryan Leger of Winnie and Darren Leger and his wife, Sharon, of Sulphur, Louisiana; brother, Donald Leger and his wife, Ella, of China; sisters, Pearl Campbell and her husband, Happy, of LaBelle and Ida Soileau and her husband, Wilton, of China; ten grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; stepchildren, Victor and Clare Hunt, of Dallas, George Hunt, of Beaumont, Kelly and Steve Swisher, of Houston, and Sally Hunt, of Beaumont; seven step-grandchildren; and one step-great-grandchild.

A gathering of Mr. Leger’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 6:00 p.m., Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 26, 2018, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 245 West Highway 90, China. A burial of Mr. Leger’s cremated body will held at China Cemetery at a later date.
