Ruth Agnes Gilmer

Ruth Gilmer was born January 6, 1921 in Ohio to Louis and Carla Sanders.  She died on Thursday, April 13 after a brief illness at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital.  She moved to Beaumont in 1960 with her husband, Charlie when he started a job with Goodyear.  Ruth and Charlie were active in their church, Bethlehem Lutheran serving in a variety of ways.  Up until the church closed in 2015, Ruth would count and deposit the offering from the Sunday Service.  She loved to sew and often made cloth bags to donate for Some Other Place’s School supply program. 

Ruth participated in a local bowling league up until she was 89.  She prided herself in being active and exercised daily to stay healthy.  She moved to Collier Park in 2012 and continued to attend exercise classes.

She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and husband.  She is survived by several nieces and nephews as well as her Bethlehem Church Family.  We wish to thank Dr. Mark Toups and his staff for caring for Ruth and recognizing her desire to live a full and healthy life.  We would also like to thank the staff of Collier Park for their care and support of Ruth as well as the nurses on 4SW at Christus during the last week of her life.  Memorials can be made to Some Other Place, P.O.
