Sam Howard Ryan

Sam Howard Ryan, 77, of Kountze, died Sunday, May 21, 2017. He was born on February 12, 1940, in Saratoga, to Aline and John Ryan. Sam was an operator with Mead Westvaco Papermill, in Evadale, and retired after thirty-four years of employment. He was a member of Pine Lodge #642 Ancient Free and Accepted Masons, Kountze.

Sam is survived by his wife of fifty-six years, Alyce Ryan; children, Michael Ryan; Pam Blakeney and her husband, Jimmy; and Gary Ryan and his wife, Dalonna, all of Honey Island; grandchildren, Ron Faulk and  Brandon Faulk, both of Honey Island, Justin Ryan, of Kountze, Jake Ryan, of Honey Island, Jeremy Ryan, of Kountze, Drew Ryan, Dylan Ryan, Gary “Bubba” Ryan, and Ethan Blakeney, all of Honey Island; and Tasha Smith, of Silsbee; five great-grandchildren; brother, Ernest Ryan; and sisters, Dewanda Flores, and Sharon Stevens, all of Devers.

He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Mark Ryan; and grandchildren, Christopher and Coty Ryan.

A gathering of Mr. Ryan’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2017, at Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. His funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Jordan Cemetery, Honey Island.
