Sandra Green Talbert
Sandra Green Talbert went home to be with the Lord on December 6, 2019. Sandy was born June 1, 1945, in Port Arthur, Texas to Warner Russell Green and Bessie Mae Spears Green. After graduating from Thomas Jefferson High School, she entered Lamar University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Government and History. While attending Lamar, Sandy met George Talbert at the Baptist Student Union. They were married on December 18, 1965. They had two children, George Clinton and Andrea Kathryn. Sandy was a wonderful person, wife, mother, friend, and teacher. She was very proud of her family. Sandy and George enjoyed taking their family on vacations, even later taking their grandchildren.
Sandy accepted Christ as her personal savior as a young child and lived her life as a shining light for her Lord. She taught Sunday School for many years as well as being a teaching instructor for Bible Study Fellowship in Beaumont. Sandy was a member of Crestwood Baptist Church of Lumberton.
Sandy began her teaching career at Marshall Middle School in Beaumont in 1966. She took a break from teaching to stay home with her children and move to Connecticut and Virginia for several years for George’s career with Mobil. She returned to teaching after her return to Beaumont and retired in the late 1980’s. During her career, she was a member of many professional and civic organizations and received recognition for her excellent teaching.
Sandy is survived by her son, George Clinton Talbert of Kountze: daughter Andrea Talbert Dilts and her husband Chuck of Kountze; brother Warner Russell Green, Jr. and his wife Vicki of Kountze; sister Kay Green Mullins and her husband George of Big Canoe, Georgia; and three grandchildren, Chamis Dilts and his wife Callie of Lumberton; Teagan Dilts of Austin, and Cate Dilts of Kountze; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A gathering of Mrs. Talbert’s family and friends will be from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Monday, December 9, 2019, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 10, 2019, at Crestwood Baptist Church, 1150 U-S 69, Kountze, with Reverend Jeff Lowe officiating. Sandy was a great teacher, leader & mentor for me i& many other women in Bible Study Fellowship. She showed me how to be a leader of others thru loving people., loving Jesus & His Word. She truly lived what she believed & I will always be grateful for her influence in my life! The gracious spirit of our Lord was evident on her face & in her response to other people. She will be sorely missed!

We send our deepest sympathies to Sandy’s family. We were Calder Baptist friends with the Talberts during the 80’s and 90’s, while Dan worked with George at Mobil.

Sandy has always been such a treasure to me. We were close when raising our children. I still today wear a cross necklace that she gave me and I think of her all the time. She was a fantastic person and helped me grow in my faith. Praise God that Sandy and George are reunited. I love her family and our prayers are with you. Cyndi Larson
