Scott Brown

July 7, 1958 - November 17, 2018

Scott Allen Brown, 60, of Maumelle, Arkansas, died Saturday, November 17, 2018. He was born on July 7, 1958, in Great Bend, Kansas to Donald Keith and Mary Ellen Brown.

Scott grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and graduated from Shawnee Mission North High School in 1977. Shortly after graduation he moved to Beaumont, Texas where he lived and worked for over forty years. He moved to Maumelle, Arkansas in 2017 but he loved living in Texas the most. You can take the man out of Texas, but you can’t take Texas out of the man.

Scott enjoyed hunting and fishing. You could say he was a “collector” of fishing and hunting gear. He had enough fishing tackle and rods and reels to open his own tackle shop. He also enjoyed watching football. Particularly the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys – especially when they were having a winning season. His favorite musical group was the Beatles (especially Paul McCartney). Visitors could often hear their music playing at Scott’s home.

Scott loved his friends. He had great friends- “the good ole boys” and they would do anything for each other. They helped each other numerous times throughout the years.

Scott changed from a physical man to a spiritual man. He was humble, honest, and hungry. He was hungry for the truth the bible teaches. He had a firm hope in the resurrection and one of his favorite scriptures was Psalm 37:9-11. “For evil men will be done away with, but those hoping in Jehovah will possess the earth. Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more, You will look at where they were, and they will not be there. But the meek will possess the earth, and they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.”

Scott was a great son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Ellen Brown; sister, Roe Swetman; nephew, Sheldon Swetman (Ariel); great nephews, Landon, Logan, and Jaxton Swetman; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Donald Keith Brown.

A gathering of Mr. Brown’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.
