Sue Switzer Mann Weisenfelder

June 22, 1926 - June 19, 2017

Sue Switzer Mann Weisenfelder, 90, formerly of Beaumont, passed away Monday, June 19, 2017 in Plano, Texas. 

Mrs. Weisenfelder was born in Beaumont on June 22, 1926 to George and Bernice Switzer. She attended Beaumont public schools and graduated from Beaumont High School in 1943. During her school years, she was active in dance, drama, and choral activities. After high school, she attended Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans for two years. She transferred to The University of Texas in Austin where she met her future husband, James Mann. They were married and lived together in Beaumont for over fifty years.  They had one son, Stephen Mann.  After raising her son, she continued her education at Lamar University in Beaumont where she received a degree in Art.

Sue was involved in many local organizations including the Junior League and was a patron of the Art Museum of Southeast Texas. She was a supporter of the Lamar University Art Department and she was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church of Beaumont.

Sue’s son Stephen died in 2000 and her husband James died in 2003.  On January 13, 2010, she married Carl Weisenfelder, a Beaumont High classmate, and was welcomed into his large immediate and extended family. She is survived by Carl, his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

A gathering of Mrs. Weisenfelder’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. with her funeral service to follow at 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with Dr. Bob Shield, officiating. Her interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.
