Timothy Roosevelt

September 25, 1965 - May 9, 2018

Timothy Roosevelt was born September 25, 1965, in Buffalo, New York. He was the youngest child to James and Mattie Roosevelt.

Tim was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Roosevelt; his father, James Roosevelt; and his sister, Lisa Hilson.

He attended Buffalo Public Schools. He graduated from McKinley High School where he was on the basketball team. Due to his athleticism he obtained a basketball scholarship to Clarion University. He later transferred to Buffalo State College where received his bachelor’s Degree in Communications. His mother urged him to participate in a local cultural theater where he developed his acting skills. Tim decided to make a change in his life and joined the Navy where he served from 1992 until 1996. During that time, he came home on leave and met Levette. They married and resided in Hampton, Virginia. Tim and Levette became involved in ministry at Calvary Chapel of Newport News. He felt God’s calling to move to Beaumont, Texas, in 2003 and start Calvary Chapel of Beaumont. He was the senior pastor until his passing. He also thoroughly enjoyed ministry because he had a heart for the loss and sharing the gospel that would bring them to Christ.

Tim had an infectious and joyous presence and became friends with everyone who crossed his path. He loved the Lord dearly and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He loved singing, reading and teaching the Word of God. He also enjoyed spending time with loved ones.

Tim leaves to cherish his memories, his wife, Levette; children, Camille Roosevelt of Buffalo, New York and Courtney Roosevelt of Beaumont, Texas; his brother, Chris (Lisa) Roosevelt of Buffalo, New York; his nephews, Aaron, Naaman, Joshua and Edward; his nieces, Adina and Shakira; and a host of family and friends.

A gathering of Pastor Roosevelt’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m., with his funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 14, 2018, at Cathedral of Faith Baptist Church, 3755 Fannett Road, Beaumont. Interment will follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

Pastor Tim will be greatly missed. Although it's been several years we feel his passing deeply in our hearts. May he be at peace at home with the Lord.

My sincere condolences to the family at this difficult time. May you all seek God for comfort, peace, strength and support (2 Cor 1:3).

I met Tim around 2005 or 2006 at the Calvary Chapel Pastors and Leaders conference. Mark Martinez introduced us. I would drive through Beaumont often with work and pray for Tim and his family. I would text him sometimes after I prayed. I visited him in Beaumont a few times and led worship once way back when. I was heartbroken to hear he was called home. I pray for Levette and the girls as well as for the gospel he planted in many lives.
