Vivian Calais

Vivian Marie Calais, 88, of Port Arthur, died Friday, November 16, 2018, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur. She was born June 14, 1930, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, to Laperle Huval Landry and Wilfred Landry.

Survivors include her daughters, Catherine Barra, and late husband, Dr. Ronnie Barra, of Nacogdoches; Patsy Arredondo, and husband Rudy, of Groves; and Elaine Calais, of Beaumont; sons, Donald Calais, of Atlanta, Georgia and Mark Calais, and wife Laura, of Austin; nine grandchildren, Brad Barra, Mandie Champagne, Cara Holder, Stacie Barra Tournis, Jamie Proenza, Jill Criswell, Abbey Chionsini, Alex Chionsini, and Nolan Calais; and nine great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Roy Calais; and parents, Laperle and Wilfred Landry.

A gathering of Mrs. Calais’ family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with her Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2018, at St. Therese, the Little Flower of Jesus Catholic Church, 6412 Garnet Avenue, Port Arthur. Her entombment will follow at Green Lawn Memorial Park, Groves, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.

She was my link to Christ. I loved this woman from a distance. She would send me cards of encouragement after my accident in Mexico she cut out the newspaper clipping when I made nurse of the year I think she loved me too

Been knowing Mrs. Vivian all my life..Her and her Husband Roy done more for Port Acres then most people will know.. Especially When it come to Church, gardening, Little league, Babe Ruth, Pony Colt Baseball Etc. Etc. She was right there ..Her Family came from The same place where my dad and all the Calais come from..God bless this Family..( RIP Mrs. Vie )..Mike Calais, Port Acres Tex.
