William Gaines Comstock

April 6, 1946 - May 10, 2017

William Gaines Comstock, 71, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at Memorial Herman Hospital, Houston. He was born on April 6, 1946, to Elizabeth Englebert Comstock and William Ray Comstock, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Bill was the head usher, funeral coordinator, and ran the The Apostolic Church Food Pantry along with his wife, Donna. He was an avid hunter and loved classic Fords. Bill was a devoted family man and never missed any of his grandkids activities or events. 

Survivors include his wife, Donna Comstock, children, Anne Comstock of Clear Lake; Kyle Comstock and his wife, Laurie, of Galveston; Carol Lonidier and her husband, Paul, of Mont Belvieu; Elizabeth Purkis and her husband, Boyd, of Tomball; Anthony Bruzzese and his wife, Alyssa, of Fannett; and Steven Bruzzese and Joseph Bruzzese III, both of Staten Island, New York; grandchildren, Colin, Aubrey, and Adyson Hyma; Jonathan and Brandon Comstock; Tyler Martin, Blake Wythe; Cody, Jeremy, and Lauren Lonidier; and Megan, Morgan, Mallory, Mason, and Mia Purkis and Trista Patin; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Kali, and Kyli Comstock; and brother, Mike Comstock of Scott, Louisiana.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his granddaughter, Megan Purkis.

A gathering of Mr. Comstock’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, 2017, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, May 13, 2017, at The Apostolic Church, 3333 Eastex Freeway, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Magnolia Cemetery, Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Southeast Texas Food Bank, P.O. Box 21012, Beaumont, Texas 77705. Bill served his Lord and his community by dedicating a lot of his time to the Food Pantry at The Apostolic Church.

    One of his grandkids here, 5 years later my mom and me and my siblings still miss him dearly every single year on his bday we go visit his grave, and every year we cry.
