Luther Gary Simmons, 68, of Beaumont, died Thursday, April 11, 2024. He was born on March 5, 1956, in Little Rock, Arkansas, to Theda Marie Conley and Luther Ellis Simmons. Survivors include his wife of forty-six years, Elizabeth Simmons; and children, Tricia Contreras and her husband, Frank, Jr.; Devon Kolander and her husband, Kris; and Austin Simmons. He was preceded in death by his parents. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions for Mr. Simmons may be made to an organization of one’s choice. Neighborhood mischief, summer little- league, vacations at his grandmother’s bay house, countless hunting trips with his dad and later with his two boys provided memories for a lifetime. He often shared memories of growing up on 21st Street – this is also where he met his good friend, Kyle Yeates, who introduced him to baseball. Wanda was raised in the small town of Junction, Texas. In her teen years, she worked at the local Soda Fountain/Pharmacy. This is where, after graduating high school, she met her future husband, Hank Funchess. Hank was attending Texas A & M and was in Junction for summer school. Charlotte Ann Toth, 82, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, January 30, 2024. She was born on March 1, 1941, in Port Arthur, to Gladys Mary Comeaux and Homer Joseph Fontenot. Survivors include her daughters, Vicki Cook and her husband, Jim and Phyllis Feil and her husband, Don; sister, Denise Fontenot and her husband, David; grandchildren, Casey Johnson and his wife, Rachel; Chelsea Marshall; and Kendall Johnson and his wife, Tina; great-grandson, Karson Johnson; and nephew, Jacob Hamilton. She is preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Timothy Cervantes, and niece, Mandi Marks. Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society – Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705. Mrs. Toth’s cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont.

Rosemary Gonzales, 89, of Beaumont, passed to meet her Lord Jesus Christ on Saturday, January 20, 2024. She was born on March 1, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas, to Donato Gonzales, Sr. and Maria Lopez Gonzales. She lived in Beaumont 85 years and graduated from Beaumont High School in 1953. Rosemary worked at San Jacinto Savings for 10 years. She also worked at The Fair Store and The White House until she retired.
