Patsy Allen Corkran, 87, of Nederland, Texas went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, surrounded by her loving family. Patsy was born on June 27, 1937, in Reeves, Louisiana, to the late W. Allen Pourteau and Edna Dunnehoo Pourteau. She was a resident of Groves and Nederland for 67 years. Patsy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and friend who will be missed dearly by all. She was a member of Nederland Apostolic Church. She retired from Teachers Credit Union. Patsy is survived by her sons, Reverend James C. Corkran and wife, Carolyn, of Bridge City, and Greg A. Kittie Faye Kay, 80, of Nederland, died September 28, 2024. She was born October 11, 1943, to Catherine and James Brockermeyer, Sr. Kittie graduated as Salutatorian from Kountze High School in 1962. She met the love of her life, David, at the Chuck Wagon Restaurant in Port Arthur in 1963 and they have been married for 61 years. Kittie enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with her family. Those who knew her well would say she had a great sense of humor and quick wit. After her children left home, Kittie joined her husband David in the trucking industry, learned to drive an 18-wheeler, and logged over one million miles, coast to coast. Exa Dana Harvill Fountain, 96, passed away peacefully at her home in Bon Wier, Texas, Tuesday, September 17, 2024. She was born August 2, 1928, in Nederland, Texas, to Lewis Marion Harvill and Lola Ota Defee Harvill. She grew up in Nederland, Texas with her six sisters and two brothers. Exa was working at Gardener’s Grocery on Boston Avenue when her co-worker, Temp, introduced her to her brother, William “Bill” Sam Fountain. Sam and Exa were married July 27, 1945. Together, they raised two sons, Jerry and Robert, in Nederland. In 1962, they bought a camp house in Sabine Sands, along the Sabine River in Bon Wier, Texas. They eventually made it their permanent residence after Sam retired from Mobil in 1977, but kept their home in Nederland where she made frequent trips to spend time with her siblings and her mother. Cindy was born in St. Mary’s Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas on May 27, 1959, she was the fourth daughter of 5 children born to Lezy and Ruby Manuel. Cindy graduated in 1978 from Leon Godcheaux High School in LaPlace, Louisiana. Later she moved back to Groves, Texas and married her husband, Michael Ray Kessel on February 2, 1985. Cindy had met Mike at the age of 14 at the Groves swimming pool where Michael worked as a lifeguard. She was too scared to jump off the high diving board and upon seeing this Michael climbed up there, took her by the hand and jumped off with her. After that day Michael became a hero in her eyes and has remained one ever since. Kenneth Lee Stiles was born April 2, 1945 at St. Teresa Hospital in Beaumont. His parents were Vernon Leroy and Shirley Mae Raney Stiles. He lived in Port Neches and graduated in 1961. Kenneth joined the Army in 1965 and served in Vietnam in the 173rd Airborne as an E-5 Sergeant. He also received a purple heart and other combat medals while serving. In 1967 he married Sandra Smith and they lived in Port Neches, Nederland, and then Lumberton. Kenneth was a journeyman electrician with Local 479 until he retired. He worked at many refineries for various companies. He enjoyed many outdoor activities: fishing, dirt bikes, his Harley motorcycle, and the latest was driving on mountain trails in his Jeep. Salma Murr Mehio, 93, of Nederland, died Sunday, August 25, 2024. She was born July 23, 1931, in Bteghrine, Lebanon, to Mary Saliba Murr and Wadih Murr. Salma Mehio was an angel who touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of being in her presence. She came to America from Lebanon with her four children and raised them fearlessly and selflessly on her own. She spent countless hours learning English and studying to give her and her children a fulfilling life. She was so proud to become a medication aide and taking care of her residence was her joy. Amy Anna Tweedel Read, of Orange, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, after an over eight-year battle with cancer. Born on April 6, 1988, at St. Mary Hospital in Port Arthur, Texas, Amy was the beloved daughter of Suzie and Jimmy Tweedel. From the moment she entered the world, Amy brought pure joy to those around her. Even as a young child, her spirit was adventurous and fearless. Before she could walk, she was already scaling bookshelves and diving into pools, showing no fear of heights or water. As she grew older, her love for the water led her to swim like a fish, and she joined the local summer swim team. Amy began taking dance lessons at the tender age of two but discovered her true passion when she started tumbling lessons at five. Dorothy graduated from Nederland High School and raised her family in Nederland with her husband Bruce. Upon his retirement they moved to Wildwood and enjoyed golfing, ballroom dancing, traveling with friends and most of all entertaining their grandchildren. He was born September 23, 1937, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Curtis Bryan Cotton and Anna Elizabeth Nugent Cotton. Blanca Estela Garcia Gutierrez, 73, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 12, 2024, at her home in Nederland, Texas. Blanca was born on April 15, 1951, in Reynosa, Mexico, to her parents Manuel Garcia and Maria del Socorro Gutierrez, and was raised in Reynosa alongside her little sister, Aminta. Blanca was a proud graduate of the School of Nursing in Tampico/Madero, Mexico. Later in life, she acquired her pediatric nursing degree from the Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas followed and by an Administrative Nurse certification in Mexico City. She was very loved and adored by her local community and everyone knew her as Blanquita, the very caring pediatric nurse and supervisor at the PEMEX Hospital in Reynosa Tamaulipas. Charles Aaron McKinley III, 95, of Nederland, died Thursday, August 8, 2024. He was born February 2, 1929, in Beaumont, to Opal Collins Herrington McKinley and Charles Aaron McKinley, Jr. Charles loved deer hunting and fishing in Bolivar Bay. He served in the United States Coast Guard and the National Guard. Charles retired from Amerpol-Synpol rubber production plant in Port Neches. He was an excellent carpenter. He was always willing to help others and will forever be remembered as a loving father, husband, and grandfather. Survivors include his children, Charles A. McKinley IV, William “Bill” McKinley and wife, Rhonda, and Moina Cooper; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. Midge was born on November 16, 1939, exactly two minutes before her identical twin sister Carolyn, to Margie Evelyn Way and Vernon E. Way in Beacon, New York. She graduated from Beacon High School in 1957 and on May 30, 1964, she married her husband John E. May. They moved to Texas in 1966. Joe Henry Noble, 92, of Port Arthur, died Sunday, July 28, 2024. He was born February 5, 1932, in Port Arthur, to Bertha Guidry Noble and William Ulmer Noble. He was a machinist at Texaco for many years and was a life long member of the church of Christ. He loved wood working and gardening. To his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was “Pawpaw”. He loved to horseplay with the kids and was always ready make them toys from his shop. Alfred “Vic” Hubert, Jr., 90, of LaBelle, died Wednesday, July 24, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born October 3, 1933, to Inez Robin Hubert and Alfred Victor Hubert, Sr. Vic was a native of Nederland, Texas, later moving his family to LaBelle. Joining the U.S. Army at the age of 22, he was extremely proud of serving his country. Marrying our Mom in 1957, spending 66 years with the love of his life; he loved our Mom so much he could not spend more than 24 days away from her before joining her in heaven – together again. John M. Guidry passed away peacefully at Cascades Skilled Nursing Facility on July 4, 2024, with his wife, Irleen at his side. John was born in Vidor, Tx on November 19, 1939, to Russell John and Mamie Evelyn Kilpatrick Guidry. John spent most of his childhood in the Beaumont area and during high school he met and fell in love with his lifelong sweetheart, Irleen. They married immediately following John’s Navy bootcamp in 1957 and were blessed with 67 beautiful years together. After joining the U.S. Navy, at the young age of 17, John served on the USS Randolph Aircraft Carrier and multiple transport aircraft including the C-130 Hercules as a flight engineer. After 20 years of service, he retired from the military as a Chief Petty Officer and then worked as an auto technician at Toyota dealerships in Beaumont for the following 20 years.
