He was a member of the Class of 1980. After graduation, he attended Phlebotomy School and became a certified phlebotomist. He worked at Smithkline Clinical Lab for several years. Twalla Earlene Gentry, 85, of Beaumont, died April 2, 2024. She was born August 29, 1938, in Beaumont, to Joan Odom LeBlanc and William “Bill” LeBlanc. Twalla was the last living Charter Member of LaBelle Baptist Church. LaBelle Baptist Church was started in her family’s front yard in a tent. It was later moved to Highway 365 where services were still performed in the tent, while chickens were running around squawking. Her dad built the first little white church in the 1950’s, which was later torn down. He then built the red brick church in 1962. This little church made it for many years but had to be torn down again for the present building. Twalla was proud of her church and continued servicing her church and the community. Mr. Boullion retired from St. Catherine’s School where he served as the custodian. After he retired, he started his own business, Walter’s Lawn Service. In his senior year, he won the prettiest baby picture contest at Thomas Jefferson. He was the king at his Mardi Gras preschool carnival but refused to walk down the aisle with the queen. Dorothy Ann Thweatt

Dorothy Ann Thweatt, 85, of Nederland, died Saturday, February 10, 2024. She was born March 9, 1938, in Dothan, Alabama, to Ola Burkett Anderson and Asa V. Anderson. She retired from Nederland ISD after thirty-eight years of service with Helena Park Elementary School. She was known as “Ms. Ann” by the students. Survivors include her children, Patricia Gibson; Randall Hughes and wife, Donna; and Carolyn Koonce and husband, Randy; sisters, Merle Harden, Gloria Faye Richter, and Betty Sue Monk; ten grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ellis Thweatt; daughter, Venita Joyce Hughes; son, Roy Mosley; and sisters, Rachael Basnight and Jackie Medley. With his family by his side, and watching him sleep peacefully, Fermin Martin Cosca, 67, left his mortal home to find his Eternal rest on Friday, February 9, 2024. He was born on February 14, 1956, in Cavite, Philippines, to Sofia Martin and Raymundo Cosca, Sr. Our forever Valentine was a dedicated husband and adoring father who showed his love through small and large actions. He was a brother, uncle, and friend to those he had the opportunity to lovingly tease. He brought smiles to all he encountered with his sense of humor and honesty. She was born January 31, 1936, in Nederland, to Ollie Irene Smith Ricardo and Soloman Bivin Ricardo. She is survived by her son, Bradley Bishop. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband, Robert Bishop. A gathering of Mrs. Bishop’s family and friends will begin at 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2024, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
