He was born May 21, 1958, in Thibodaux, Louisiana, to Betty Jane Knott Stanley and John Herbert Stanley. John Keith Stanley is the proud owner of Cottontail Express. Lynda Carol Bobino, 81, of High Island, died Monday, March 4, 2024. She was born on January 25, 1943, to Lottie Marie and Lee Roy Turner. Lynda loved doing anything outside, including gardening and fishing. Anyone was welcome at her home at any time. She enjoyed dancing in her early years but recently she has been enjoying word searches and jigsaw puzzles. She volunteered for most of the things that happened in High Island. If anyone ever needed anything, she was always available. She retired after 26 years of service from High Island I.S.D on May 31, 2003. Leon Hopson

Leon Hopson was born on August 10, 1950, in Baytown, Texas, to Red and Eva Hopson, and, along with his three sisters, spent most of his life in Hamshire, America. Leon grew up in the shadow of the oilfield and, at the early age of 17, began his career as a deckhand on oil rigs, both on land and in the Gulf of Mexico.  He worked his way through the various rig positions until he became a directional driller.  After working with his father and on his own for many years, in 2003, Leon joined with two friends to create Crescent Directional.  He retired from Crescent in early 2016, and devoted himself as a full time resident at his barn, polishing his tractors, and harassing his friends, of which there were many. He has two little brothers, Marvin Little, Jr. and Nelson Little. Bobby graduated from Nederland High School, and later worked as a cost tracker for Koch Industries for over 20 years. He has been a resident of the Fannett area for close to 50 years. Bobby married the love of his life, Clo Jane little, in July of 1983, and immediately gained two twin daughters, Lanette and Janette. Beverly “Belle” Syphrett Weaver passed away January 17, 2024 at the age of 92. She was born in Devers, Texas, on March 12, 1931 to Charles & Helen Bonin Prevost. Belle was a lifelong Chambers County resident and attended Anahuac High School. She married D.W. “Dub” Syphrett and had two children, Daniel W. Syphrett Ill of Stowell and Helen DanElla McCarty of Liberty. They were married 24 years before he died. After the passing of Dub Syphrett, Belle enlarged her family when she married James Earl Weaver. This added two sons, Jimmy Weaver of Anahuac, and Gary Weaver of Hankamer. Although he initially pursued college for three years, he chose to step out and assist his parents at home. In 1963, he was drafted into the Army, where he dedicated his service. Following his military tenure, Michael ventured into entrepreneurship, establishing his own construction company. Later in life, he discovered joy in residing in Mexico, where he spent many fulfilling years. In 2019, he returned to Winnie, making it his home until his passing. S. Navy in August, 1942. Todd was a career history teacher and coach beginning in 1985 in Groveton, Texas.  It was there where he married the love of his life, Brenda Golding East in 1987, and where their first born, Keaton, arrived in 1991. Mary Ethel Bourg Salzar, 90, of Winnie, died Saturday, November 25, 2023. She was born on April 5, 1933, in Port Arthur, to Mary and Philip Bourg. Survivors include daughters, Carolyn Hunter, and her husband, David, of Winnie, and Annette Shepherd and her husband, James, of Fannett; son, Steven Salzar and his wife, Karen, of Houston; twelve grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; twelve great-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Zelma Welty of Port Neches, and Betty Smiley, of Groves. Mary is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband, Wlliam Edward Salzar;  four brothers, Albert, Philip, Haden, and O’Neal Bourg; sister, Bessie Davis; great granddaughters, Teranee Danielle Klander-Smith, and Maureen Elizabeth “Mo” Duhon. Judy Ann Devers, 76, of Fannett, died Friday, November 24, 2023. She was born on April 13, 1947, in Sabine Pass, to Paula and Charles Campbell. Judy enjoyed crafting, sewing, competing in Cajun dance competitions, working on puzzles, and decorating for the holidays. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include her son, Dwayne Devers and his wife, Amanda, of Fannett; daughter, Kayla Williams and her husband, Allen, of Atlanta; brother, Don Campbell, and his wife, Lori, of Orangefield; grandchildren, Colt Williams and his wife, Kayla, Weston, and Abigail Devers; and great-grandchildren, Kalli and Dolynn Williams. Glenda Wilkes Nicholson

Glenda Wilkes Nicholson, 60, of Houston, entered eternal rest on Monday, November 6, 2023. She was born March 26, 1963, in Rayne, Louisiana, to Barbara Nell Domingue Wilkes and Glen Derrick Wilkes. She married Jimmy Dean Nicholson on November 24, 1984 and became a mother to Ciarli Alyse Nicholson in 1987. She attended Lamar University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in graphic design and followed that with a teaching certificate. Glenda began her teaching career at Beverly Hills Intermediate in Pasadena ISD as an art teacher and made lifelong friendships over her 32-year career.  Always the learner, Glenda returned to school to earn a master’s degree in counseling from the University of Houston Clear Lake. She spent the last seventeen years serving the students of the South Belt community as a Counselor at Dobie Main, Dobie East, and finally at the Dobie Ninth Grade campus.
