LIFE GOES SO FAST

If you are reading this story in the Beaumont Enterprise, you are reading the Obituary page, and this is my last story. I will be joining my beautiful wife, Joyce, celebrating our sixty plus wonderful years together. Joyce is the love of my life, and I am looking forward to our eternity together.

Surviving are our loving and caring daughters, Karen Rae Radley Nygaard and husband, Dennis and Dena Kay Radley Saltzman; brother, Robert Rhea and wife, Beverly; and grandchildren, Shannon Elkins and wife, Jennifer; Wendy Russell and husband, Victor; and Ginny Lowe and husband, Dillon; great-grandchildren, Jeffrey Elkins, Emily Johnson and husband, Justin, Lauren Elkins, Isaac Russell, Juliana Elkins, Eli Russell, Graham Elkins, Levi Lowe; and great-great-grandchild, Beckham Thibodeaux; and numerous nieces and nephews.

I am pre-deceased by my father, Ernest Elmer Radley; mother, Virginia Ruth Radley; brother, Charles Everett Radley; and brother, Joe Howard Radley.

We moved to Beaumont, Texas, in 1944 when I was in the fourth grade, returning to Sour Lake the following year. Growing up in Sour Lake, the days were different because we made our own fun. TV and the internet didn’t exist, but our imagination was a buzz! I worked for Sun Pipeline and Sun Oil Co. for eighteen years, leaving Sun in 1970 to work twenty-one years with Radley Electric, Inc. I was raised Baptist, had a brief stint as Methodist and became Catholic in 1971. I am a Third and Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus. I have attended Mass fairly regularly, so I hope to have my funeral celebrated with happy music at Our Lady of Victory in Sour Lake, Texas, with interment at Rosedale Cemetery on Old Beaumont Road.

On a final note, from George Burns’ song: “I wish I was eighteen again, going where I have never been! I’ll never again turn the young ladies’’ heads or go running in the wind . . .” Please play “Rhapsody in Blue” and “I Will Forever Love You!”  Lastly, play our favorite waltz, “Jolie Blon!”

My soul belongs to God, and I pray that I am received in His heavenly abode.

P.S. If I have caused hurt or discomfort, please forgive me.
