Peggy Ruthe “Tincy” Trahan

Peggy Ruthe “Tincy” Trahan, 94, of Leander, died Sunday, April 17, 2022, at The Legacy at Crystal Falls, Leander. She was born on July 17, 1927, to Mary Maude Marionneaux Boynton and Elbert Wirt Boynton, in Beaumont.

Peggy was born and raised in Beaumont. She was a proud graduate of the Class of 1944 at South Park High School. She then attended South Park Junior College and the University of Texas – Austin majoring in Music. She began teaching piano lessons at the early age of 15, often riding her beloved horse Pat to the homes of her students. She continued teaching for almost 40 years. She always held a special place in her heart for her students. Peggy was a Jill of all trades. She enjoyed camping and fishing with her family at Lake Rayburn. She could often be seen cooking a bunch of freshly caught fish on her Coleman stove at campside. She also was a talented cake decorator and enjoyed making special occasion cakes for family and friends. She and husband Everett helped cater weddings, delivering cakes she made in the back of their Plymouth Horizon.

In later life, Peggy, our mother, enjoyed doting on her three granddaughters. She loved them dearly and took pride in spoiling them. God then blessed her with the privilege of loving five great-grandchildren. She was so proud of all of them. As we, her family, look back on her life, we see a caring. Loving soul who gave her all to support her family. Although we grew up in South Park with modest means, we always had a roof over our heads, a warm bed to sleep in at night, plenty of food on our table, and decent clothing for school. She taught us and loved us every day. All that we have accomplished in life can be attributed in large part to the love, support, and guidance we were given so freely and unconditionally as children. For those things, we will be eternally grateful. We know that Mom now is resting peacefully with our Lord and Savior. We know that Dad welcomed her with open arms. We know also that they will be there waiting for us when it is our time to leave this Earthly plane and enter life eternal.

Survivors include her children, Donald Everett Trahan and his wife, Shirley, of Beaumont and Cynthia Gail Mudd and her husband, James, of Jonestown; daughter-in-law, Vicki Lynn Trahan of Cleves, Ohio; brother, Jerry Neal Boynton and his wife, Mary Hope, of Sun City; grandchildren, Kimberly Michelle Trahan Ege and her husband, Matt; Amy Melissa Trahan St. Clair and her husband, Trey; and Shannon Colleen Trahan; great-grandchildren, Caleb Ege, Callie Ege, Samuel Ege, Brayden St. Clair and Parker St. Clair; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Everett Trahan; son, Roger Dale Trahan; and brother, Sherrill E. Boynton, Sr.

A gathering of Mrs. Trahan’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with her funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

Following the interment, a reception will be held for all guests at the Praise and Family Center of Wesley United Methodist Church, 3810 North Major Drive, Beaumont, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Please come and enjoy the food and fellowship as we celebrate the life of Peggy.
