Carol Byrd Summerlin

December 21, 1939 - August 2, 2022

Carol Byrd Summerlin, 82, of Beaumont, died Tuesday, August 2, 2022, at Calder Woods, Beaumont. She was born December 21, 1939, in Beaumont, to Helen Head Byrd and Ernest Clark Byrd.

Carol graduated South Park High School in 1957. She attended Lamar University and was a member of Alpha Delta Pi. Carol married her husband Bill October 18, 1958. She worked at Gulf States for several years early in their marriage.

Carol is survived by her husband, William Summerlin, Jr.; children, Becky Summerlin; Lori Sue Cormier and her husband, Troy, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Corbin Joseph Cormier and his wife, Jessica, of Houston; and Colin Daniel Cormier of Boston, Massachusetts.

She is preceded in death by her parents and son, David Brian Summerlin.

A gathering of Mrs. Summerlin’s family and friends will begin 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 6, 2022, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. Her interment will immediately follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 4955 Pine Street, Beaumont.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Southeast Texas, 2050 Spindletop Avenue, Beaumont, Texas 77705.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the employees and caregivers at Calder Woods and Harbor Hospice, for all of their guidance and kind words and care.

    So sorry for your loss. I remember Carol from our days at SPHS. She was Class of 57 and I was Class of 56, but we worked on the Greenie Gusher (school newspaper) and Spindletop (school annual) together. She was such a beautiful girl, and a sweet person. Prayers for her family.
