Aaron Britt McKague

December 22, 1966 - August 11, 2021

Aaron Britt McKague, 54, of Beaumont, died Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Port Arthur.

Survivors include the mother of his son and dear friend, Melissa McKague, of Beaumont; his children, Aiden McKague, of Beaumont and Ashley Trahan, of Beaumont; his girlfriend, Susie Whittington, of Vidor; mother, Helen Maxwell, of Port Arthur; siblings, Mary Kay Smith and her husband, Douglas “Salty” of Nederland; Millie Varnado and her husband Ray Higginbotham, of Mangum, Oklahoma; Laura Moore, of Port Arthur; and John McKague and his wife, Cathy, of Trinity; and a host of nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews; and Melissa’s parents Mary and Wilton Byrd.

He is preceded in death by his father, John Carroll McKague, Sr. and grandparents, Edna and Wilbur McKague and Lawrence and Mildred Warren.

Aaron was the sales manager of Automatic Pump and Equipment Company for many years, and truly loved his job and coworkers. He was often seen with his phone in hand because work was so important to him. He also loved children and befriended most he met and did his best to show each of them love. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed making others laugh. Aaron was also devoted to his girlfriend, Susie. They had a bright future and their relationship was cut much too short. Aaron and Melissa shared a unique relationship in which they married, divorced and remained co-parents, and constant friends through-out the remainder of his life. Aaron loved his Lord and Savior and spent many years serving in the church doing whatever was needed. He primarily enjoyed children’s ministry and was blessed to have impacted many area children and youth during his time serving.

More than anything, Aaron loved his one and only son, Aiden. Aiden was Aaron’s pride and joy in life. They were best friends, and you could often find Aaron being the helicopter dad at any event Aiden was participating in. Aaron taught Aiden much about life – to be kind, to be respectful, to serve others when possible and most of all to love deeply. Aaron took great pleasure in getting to know Aidens friends and would hang out and laugh with them anytime someone stopped by the house. Aiden will miss his Dad tremendously.

Aaron was a Father figure and mentor to Ashley Trahan, whom he loved very much. They met through Aiden but he quickly became a father figure. Aaron taught her about budgeting, paying bills and helped her buy her first car. Aaron considered her as his daughter. Ashley will miss ‘Dads’ as she continues into her adulthood.

Aaron was cherished and will be greatly missed.

The first time I met Aaron I thought he was funny, nice and very charming. The second time I met Aaron I thought he was weird and a little rude. See the second time I met him he was with my friend Susie who had just gotten divorced. At that time I was a little over protective over my friend and I thought Aaron was a little too fixated too early. As the months passed I got to know Aaron and saw the care in the way he treated my friend, the more I appreciated him and his treatment of my friend’s heart. He was very funny, nice, loving, goofy, and charming! He was just a great person who has left us way too soon. He will be missed greatly.

Sorry I did not get to meet Aaron before he passed but talking with Melissa he sounded like a wonderful man. Thinking of the McKague Family during this difficult time.
