AJ Ashworth

AJ Ashworth, 93, of Longview, died Monday, May 13, 2025. He was born on March 21, 1932, in Pennington, to Mary Elizabeth Cradack and Andrew Jackson Ashworth. He was a United States Army veteran, serving in the Korean War.

AJ Ashworth was a devoted husband, loving father, proud veteran, and faithful servant of Christ whose life was a testament to unwavering faith, selfless service, and enduring love. He passed away peacefully, leaving behind a rich legacy marked by compassion, strength, and commitment to both his family and community. A proud veteran, AJ honorably served his country.  His dedication didn’t end with his military service—he remained deeply involved in his community, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His faith in Jesus Christ guided every decision and relationship with grace and conviction. AJ’s quiet strength, moral integrity, and genuine kindness earned him the admiration and respect of all who knew him. He will be remembered not only for what he did, but for who he was—a man of deep faith, steady character, and a heart full of love.

Survivors include his children, Joe Ashworth and his wife, Denise, of Deer Park; and Rusty Ashworth and his wife, Denise, of Crosby; grandchildren, Dustin Ashworth and his wife, Robin, of Longview; Cole Ashworth and his wife, April, of Deer Park; Randi Ashworth and her partner, Landry, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Marissa Ashworth and her partner, Max Woods, of Crosby; and Amy Ladd and her husband, Jason, of Eaglesville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Donovan Ashworth, Stevie Ashworth, Jacey Ladd, AJ Ladd, Waylon Woods, and Jackson Wilborn. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Lonnie Mildred Ashworth; son, Allen Avery; daughter, Brenda Sanders; and granddaughter Cristen Ashworth.

A gathering and Mr. Ashworth’s family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., with his funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 16, 2025, Broussard’s, 530 West Monroe, Kountze. His interment will follow at 3:00 p.m., Flat Prairie Foster Cemetery, 8501 8543 Groveton Flat Prairie Road, Groveton.
