Allan Samuel Anderud
Allan Samuel Anderud, 74, of Beaumont, died Friday, January 14, 2022, at Arden Place of Beaumont. He was born on October 22, 1947, to Ella Frisk Anderud and Carl Anderud, in Stockholm, Sweden. After moving to the states as a young boy, Allan grew up in California before settling in Colorado with his family. It was there he met Mardi, his wife of 51 years, and welcomed their four children.
Taking a job with Sysco Foods brought him from Colorado to Texas in 1981. Over the 40 years he worked there, both his coworkers and customers became his Sysco family.
When he wasn’t putting in orders or running hot shots, you could find Allan at church where he loved to worship. He combined his passions for performing and ministry in the Fine Arts Program at Cathedral in the Pines, where he coached and developed students to use their talents to glorify God.
He discovered theater as an adult performing with Beaumont Community Players, Beaumont Civic Ballet, and the Beaumont Civic Opera. While he performed and directed numerous shows, he was most well-known for his portrayal of Scrooge and Drosselmeyer in The Nutcracker.
From the time he was a kid, it was clear Allan had a knack for making people laugh. Whether through singing or athletics, he loved to put on a show. His love of sports, singing, and theater carried into his children and grandchildren. No matter how small the role or minutes played in a game, Papa was sure to be found proudly cheering (often loudly) from the sideline.
Faithful, loyal, constant, likeable, humble, dependable, servant-hearted, fun-loving, witty, life of the party… Husband, father, grandfather, friend. He was many things, to many people. His absence will be deep and enduring. Equally so, the love he’s left us all.
Survivors include his wife, Mardi Anderud; children, Tricia Morgan; Tosh Anderud and his wife, Tammy; Tara Marrone and her husband, Jeremy; and Tandra Warnock and her husband, Stephen; grandchildren, Eli Morgan, Jordan Morgan, Rachel Warnock, Emma Warnock, Claire Warnock, Kyria Anderud, Tristan Anderud, Finley Marrone, and Foster Marrone; sister, Eva Anderud; and cousins, Rick Philson and his wife, Andrea; Andrew Philson and his wife, Peggy; Gabrielle Philson; and Constance Philson.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son-in-law, Stephen Morgan.
A gathering of Mr. Anderud’s family and friends will be Sunday, January 16, 2022, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., at Praise Church, 8150 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2022, at Praise Church. His interment will follow at Haven of Rest, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

I am so sorry to hear of this tragic loss. The theater community in Beaumont has lost a titan. In my first audition when I was 6, it was Alan that came on stage and helped me through my stage fright. He was always incredibly sweet and kind, with a smile that conveyed genuine warmth and sincerity. My deepest condolences to his family.
I just learned of Allan’s passing and am in shock. He was dear friend and a wonderful all-around theatre person. All my children and I had worked with him several times, mainly in BCP productions of Scrooge. I also worked with him in Beaumont Civic Opera’s The Mikado and in LUPA’s 1776, in which he was a wonderful Benjamin Franklin! He also directed me in The Pirates of Penzance. Heartfelt condolences to Mardi and all their wonderful children! Allan will be sorely missed!

I have the greatest respect for Allan and the fondest memories of singing with him in choir and on worship team at Cathedral. His voice was wonderful. So was his ability to make us laugh, both at him and at ourselves. Allan loved to tease/accuse us altos of being on the tenors’ note. (It was probably true a fair amount of the time.) But I liked to tease him about making up lyrics when he forgot the words. My thoughts and prayers are with you, Mardi and “kids”. Allan was a gift to us all. May God give you strength and peace in the coming weeks and months.
Allan was truly a class act and a consummate professional – no matter how small the role, he took it seriously. We had more fun over the years performing and working on shows with the Beaumont Community Players. Whenever we would start a new show, he was sure to give me the business about the cardio necessary to do my choreography. I simply adored working with Allan and will miss him terribly. I am so grateful for the many memories and laughs we shared. My heart goes out to his family, as I know this must have been a difficult journey. ♥️

Allan, I am so very grateful for all the years of singing (you were always on MY note) and dancing (well, In your case stumbling ????) and laughing with you across the stages of Beaumont Community Players.; those were truly some of the happiest times of my life. You will always have a very special place in my heart. I know you have touched the lives of so many as you shared yourself and your talents in our town. I spent countless hours learning so many songs for so many shows with you and Dionne and Stephen. Really singing -like we did- comes from somewhere deep within the soul and it joined us all together to bring joy to so many others. I will treasure those moments for the rest of my life.
