Alton Joseph LaPoint, Sr.
Alton Joseph LaPoint, Sr., 87, of Vidor, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2025. He was born on December 13, 1937, in Mermentau, Louisiana, to Olive LeBlanc and Wilson LaPoint.
Alton was a hardworking and dedicated man who took pride in his work and providing for his family. He was the owner of LaPoint’s Heating and A/C and later retired as the maintenance supervisor at Lamar University in Beaumont. His strong work ethic and dependable nature left a lasting impact on all who knew him.
He is survived by his sons, Alton “Jody” LaPoint and his wife, Mary, and Jerrod LaPoint, all of Vidor; his daughter, Michele Faraci and her husband, John, of Beaumont; his grandchildren, Elizabeth Gray, Halie LaPoint, Ashley Dishman and her husband, Casey, and Kayla Harmon and her husband, Mark; and his great-grandchildren, Preston, Keaton, and Willow Dishman, and Parker, Ella, and Maddie Klaire Harmon.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of forty-five years, Palma LaPoint; his brothers, Lerney and Vernis LaPoint; his sister, Rose Gros; and his parents, Olive and Wilson LaPoint.
A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. His funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Broussard’s, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Julie Rogers Gift of Life Program, 2390 Dowlen Road, Beaumont, Texas 77706.

I worked with Alton many years ago at Lamar University Housing. He was a wonderful co-worker, always dependable and did excellent work. He tranferred to the Physical Plant when the Housing Office closed our Maintanence department.
My prayers are with all of Alton’s family.
