Alzire Schexnaider
Alzire Schexnaider, 94, of Nederland, peacefully passed away from this life to be with her loving savior, the Lord Jesus, on Friday, December 30, 2022. She was born November 8, 1928, in Arnaudville, Louisiana, to Ezola and Gussie Arnaud.
Our beloved mother, Alzire “Maggie,” was a wonderful cajun chef and a fabulous baker. She hosted numerous family celebrations and holidays. Maggie also loved going to the lake house at Toledo Bend to fish. She loved gardening and had a green thumb. Her landscaping was beautiful. Maggie was also a big fan of occasionally playing at the casino.
Survivors include her children, Linda Schexnaider Choate and husband, Gerald; Craig Schexnaider and wife, Charla; Donald Schexnaider and wife, Cynthia; and Darlene Schexnaider Johnson; sister, Hilda Higginbotham; grandchildren, Gerald Choate, Jr. and wife, Sherri; Kevin Choate and wife, Amber; Caty Schexnaider; Elizabeth Schexnaider; Virginia Johnson; and Alexander Johnson; and great-grandchildren, Ciarra Choate; Austin Choate; and Kaylee Choate.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ezola and Gussie Arnaud; husband, C.J. Schexnaider, Jr.; infant son, James Schexnaider; seven brothers; and four sisters.
A gathering of Mrs. Schexnaider’s family and friends will be 10:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland, with her interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
