Annie Dell Leleux

April 25, 1930 - June 2, 2023

Annie Dell Leleux, 93, of Winnie, died Friday, June 2, 2023. She was born April 25, 1930, in Esto, Florida, to Jennie Elmary Peacock McElvain and Wilton Franklin McElvain.

God has welcomed a sweet spirit when Annie Dell was called home by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  She accepted the Lord at a young age but requested to be Baptized once again at the age of 82.  She faithfully attended Cornerstone Church in Winnie until the Covid pandemic caused her to stay home.  She continued to take part by watching faithfully on YouTube every Sunday. Annie Dell spent the vast majority of her life in the Hamshire -Fannett and Winnie area. She and her twin sister Estelle had the distinction of being in the second graduating class of Hamshire High school.  Living in the Winshire area, at Shellhammer and Kiker Rd, she would walk to work as the first hired employee of Little’s Drug Store in the Winshire clinic, which ultimately moved and became the Winnie Pharmacy.  Married to Jack Cravy right out of high school, they bought and ran the Hamshire Grocery and Hardware store which also had the Post Office in the back but was moved into a side addition to the store in 1963.  Annie Dell worked in the Post Office and became Postmaster in 1974. A new Post Office building was built in 1981 and Annie Dell became the 1st Postmaster to occupy the new and current Post Office.  Annie Dell was also a member of the Winnie Chapter Eastern Stars where she proudly served as Worthy Matron for one year.  In 1976, Annie Dell married Bill Grisham and with Bill rediscovered her love for fishing.  They spent all available time at their camp on Toledo Bend until Bill’s way too early passing in 1988.  Later, she found her new love in Newman Leleux.  They enjoyed traveling, especially to see some of Newman’s WWII buddies and were well known for hosting giant get togethers at their home where no one left hungry.  They spent many happy years together.

Survivors include her daughter, Jackie Sue Fox; son, Ricky Jack Cravy and wife, Karen; stepdaughters, Carolyn Breaux; Joyce Bradley; and Karen White; grandchildren, Jason Fox and wife, Shanda; Jera Plasencia; Dean Cravy and wife, Heather; Jack Cravy and wife, Erica; Zach Cravy and wife, Nikki; Hannah Massa and husband, Zack; and Chelsie Cravy; twelve great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
