Anthony “Johnny” Arisco, Jr.
Anthony John “Johnny” Arisco, Jr., 79, of Lumberton, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 8, 2025, after a long illness, at Bonne Vie, Port Arthur. He was born on June 20, 1946, to Olive Fern Loy Arisco and Anthony John Arisco, Sr., in Port Arthur, Texas.
Whether you knew him as Johnny or AJ, he was an unforgettable character whose overall effect was larger than life. Quick witted and gregarious, he was at home in insurance sales, his favorite company being American National Insurance Company. He loved helping his customers and friends and cheerfully worked nights and weekends to answer questions and work out solutions.
Johnny loved music, sports, especially his Houston Texans, Astros, and Rockets, and his pets. Music was always playing in his car, at the office, at home, or on his cell phone. If there was a sport on TV, he would watch. He was comfortable with his cats but learned to love the dogs deeply as well.
Family and friends were also great loves of his life. He cherished the people that he was born into, those he had acquired through marriage, and those he met along the way.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Arisco; brother, Buddy Arisco and his wife, Molly, of Lewisville; sister, Mia Burd and her husband, Terry, of Beaumont; brother-in-law, Bill Fears; stepmom, Margaret Arisco; stepbrother, Davey Bowman; and stepsister, Phyllis Hoffpauir; sister-and-brother-in-law, Nancy and Bill Standeffer; sister-and-brother-in-law, Pam and Brad Clasgens; sister-in-law, Melanie Felker; and brother-in-law, Joe Brockway, along with a large number of loved nieces and nephews, extended family in-laws in Oklahoma and Kansas, and growing number of great-nephews and nieces. He also leaves behind two adoring Australian shepherd dogs who loved visiting him at Bonne Vie Continuing Care.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Vickie Fears; nephew, Damon Fears; and parents-in-laws, Janet and Stan Brockway.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to Lewy Body Dementia Association, a 501c (3) nonprofit organization, 912 Killian Hill Road S.W., Lilburn, Georgia 30047.
The family would liked to extend a special thank you to the staff of Bonne Vie for their care and compassion.
A gathering of Mr. Arisco’s family and friends will begin at 4:00 p.m. with his funeral service to follow at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 18, 2025, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. A burial of his urn will be held at Maple Hill Cemetery 202 Maple Hill Street Southeast, Huntsville, Alabama.

Johnny introduced me to my late husband, Norman Roan . That was 50 years ago.. Johnny was a good friend and we had a lot of fun back then. Johnny and Norman went to school together at Port Neches High and I heard many stories of their antics together. I was going to go to his service today but changed my mind. I would be a mess. I love you Johnny.
Julie, my heart goes out to you and his family. Johnny sounded like he loved to be around people and cared about them. I never met your Handsome but Knowing you, he brough out the best that you shared together. especially loved your dogs. Johnny and i have June 20 in common in that we are Gemini’s. We love being around people. and care and I hope to see you at some dogs shows. Sending hugs and heartfelt condolences.
Johnny was the oldest big brother to my very dear and longtime friend Mia. I always got a kick out of the stories she would tell about her and her siblings as they were growing up. Especially her brothers. Typical brother shenanigans! Lots of good stories! I love this picture of Johnny. That Arisco smile! You can’t mistake that smile anywhere! My prayers are with you and your whole family Mia. I love you my friend and may Johnny rest in perfect peace…
I met my new Brother in 1986 when his Dad and my Mother got married. He was a very friendly and caring person, I greatly appreciated the way he treated my mother with love and compassion, he is sorely missed by my sister Phyllis, my mother and I, prayers for my sister Mia and sister in law Julie, we love you.
Uncle Johnny or John Boy as momma (Vickie always called him) was a fabulous force in this world.
He will be missed but held with love in our memories and hearts.
Johnny was always great, loving and hilarious! Also witty, very expressive and I loved him so.
