Antonio Cortez Sanchez
Agent Antonio Cortez Sanchez, a dedicated U.S. Border Patrol Agent for 17 years, sadly passed away on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, at the age of 48. Born on September 14, 1974, in Mexico, to Antonio and Guadalupe Cortez, Antonio made a profound impact on the lives of those around him during his time on this earth. With a kind heart and a gentle spirit, he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Antonio’s career as a U.S. Border Patrol Agent showcased his unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of others. He approached his duty with integrity and a strong sense of duty, leaving no stone unturned in his mission to protect his country. Antonio’s colleagues remember him as a reliable and dedicated individual who always went above and beyond to serve his community. His selflessness extended beyond his professional duties; he also served as a U.S. Army Veteran. Antonio’s commitment to protecting and serving his country was an extension of his profound sense of duty and love for his fellow citizens. He carried the values instilled in him through his military service throughout every aspect of his life.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Antonio cherished the simple joys of life. He treasured spending time with his family, creating beautiful memories that will be forever cherished. Whether it was playing a game of washers in the backyard or gathering around the grill for a delightful barbeque, Antonio was happiest in the embrace of his loved ones. Family held a special place in Antonio’s heart, particularly his nieces and nephews whom he adored fiercely. Antonio’s role as an uncle brought immense joy and purpose to his life. In addition to his dedication to his family and career, Antonio also found solace in his hobbies and interests. He had an inherent love for music that brought him peace during both joyful and challenging times; he also enjoyed occasional visits to casinos.
Antonio Cortez Sanchez touched countless lives with his unwavering generosity and genuine care for others. His departure leaves an unfillable void in the hearts of his family, friends, and colleagues, but his legacy of love, selflessness, and dedication will endure. May we carry forward his spirit and strive to make a positive difference in the lives of others, just as Antonio did throughout his remarkable journey.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Guadalupe Cortez.
Among those left behind to cherish his memory are his siblings, Gabriel Saucedo and wife, Margarita; Miguel Saucedo and wife, Patricia; Rosa Maria Cortez; and Juan M. Cortez and wife, Maria N.; nieces and nephews, Gabriel Saucedo and wife, Julie; Orquidea Gomez and husband, Armando; Patricia Saucedo; Miguel Saucedo; Eduardo; Alejandra; Diana; Carolina; Nayasha; Abigail Salazar; and Guadalupe Cortez; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
A gathering of Mr. Sanchez’s family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 18, 2023, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His funeral service will begin at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Broussard’s, with his interment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.
