Austin "Bill" William Hale

March 23, 1935 - March 28, 2021

Austin “Bill” Hale, Jr., 86, of Nederland, died Sunday, March 28, 2021. He was born March 23, 1935, in Lamar, Colorado, to Lamay Oma Fowler and Austin William Hale, Sr. Bill was both an electrician and an accountant during his work life for Entergy. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Family was very important to Bill. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed cooking out for family events and spending time with his son, six grandkids, and four great granddaughters. He was famous for his Bar B-Que meals and for being able to repair anything and everything in his workshop. He was a Master Electrician then went on to earn his degree in Accounting in night school. He could repair any problem on any vehicle. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church, Nederland. Bill was an avid coin collector and woodworker, often making gifts for the grandkids. He enjoyed taking the grandkids tubing and water skiing on the river, teaching them how to fish, hunt, catch crabs, and he and Evelyn enjoyed taking them on individual driving vacations around the country.

Survivors include his son, Wayne Hale and wife, Sarah, of Houston; grandchildren, Jennifer Faglie and husband, Brad; Jonathan Hale and wife, Rebecca; Jeffrey Hale and wife, Brandy; and Juliana, Jessica, and Joshua Hale; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Amelia Faglie and Ainsley and Reese Hale; sister, Lela Gardner; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.

Bill is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Evelyn Hale; sister, Nora May Lundy; and brother, Shady Sims “Soapy” Hale.

A gathering of Mr. Hale’s family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m., with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 3, 2021, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland. His interment will follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches.

Memorial contributions may be made to National Rifle Association, 11250 Waples Mill Road, Virginia 22030 or to First United Methodist Church, 1300 Nederland Avenue, Nederland, Texas 77627.

So sorry to hear of Bill's passing. I worked with him at Gulf States Utilities. He was a good man. He always had a hug for me when I would see him around town. My condolences to his family.

Bill and Evelyn were such good friends of my parents for about 70 years, they were part of our family. I don’t remember my age when I finally realized they weren’t really my aunt and uncle (even though I called them that). I’m glad they are together in paradise , will remember them always, and look forward to seeing them again one day ❤️
