Barbara Ann Barton Weathington

July 16, 1937 - February 26, 2025

Barbara Ann Barton Weathington, age 87, passed away on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, after a four-week battle with pneumococcal pneumonia.

Barbara was born on July 16, 1937, in Rome, Georgia, and married the love of her life, Franklin Leroy Weathington, on June 18, 1955. They shared 62 years together until Frank’s passing in 2017. While Frank faced health challenges in Beaumont, Barbara underwent a successful stem cell transplant at MD Anderson for multiple myeloma. She remained cancer-free until her passing. The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the team at MD Anderson for their groundbreaking treatments, care, and support.

Barbara and Frank met in Rome, Georgia, but their journey took them across the country due to education and work opportunities. Over 19 years, they lived in eight states, moved more than 20 times, and welcomed three children. They eventually settled in Beaumont, Texas, where they remained for the rest of their lives. Frank, an industrial engineer, took on various roles throughout his career, while Barbara balanced being both a homemaker and a working mother. Her career included roles as a telephone operator, photography studio manager, retail clerk, art gallery owner, real estate salesperson, and, finally, a 26-year tenure with the U.S. Postal Service before retiring.

Barbara and Frank cherished time with their children, enjoying vacations at the lake and beach, where they owned several cabins over the years. In later years, they spent more time at home, with Barbara tending to the yard while Frank napped in the sun, always accompanied by a beloved dog or cat.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd Barton and Ester Ozell Nichols Barton; her husband, Franklin Leroy Weathington; her brother and sister-in-law, Larry and Bonnie Barton; and her sister-in-law, Bonner Orr.
