Barbara Ann Mahaffey Johnson

Barbara Ann Mahaffey Johnson, 83, of Lumberton, died Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Harbor Hospice of Beaumont. She was born July 7, 1939, in Chester, to Jessie Mahaffey Robert Andrew Mahaffey, Sr.

Barbara loved to sing in the Calvary Baptist Church choir. She was an excellent designer and interior decorator. She liked to spend money and have lots of bling. Barbara loved dressing up her granddaughters, making floral arrangements, and working in her boutique. She had a bright personality, was a great cook, and she loved Rao’s cookies.

Survivors include her son, Bruce Hutchins; grandchildren, Holly Lynn Brocato and husband, Trey and Pamela Leah Hoffman and husband, Kyle; great-grandchildren, Charlie Warren Brocato IV and Gentry Grace; sisters, Patricia Miller and Frances Worsham; and companion, Gary Landry.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Margie McQueen; Virginia Hill; Bonnie Tuma; and brothers, Raymond Mahaffey; William Mahaffey; Lloyd Mahaffey; Robert Andrew Mahaffey, Jr.; and Larry Mahaffey.

A gathering of Ms. Johnson’s family and friends will be 4:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12^th Street, Nederland. Her graveside service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 19, 2023, at Mahaffey Cemetery, County Road 2390, Chester.
