Barbara Paule Nickell

February 23, 1950 - December 17, 2022

With sad hearts we announce that on Saturday, December 17th, 2022 our beloved wife, mother and grandmother, Barbara Paule Nickell, 72, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family.

Barbara was born February 23, 1950 to Paul and Patricia Eagleson of Bakersfield, California. Barbara grew up with many friends and a smile always on her face. She was a Garces High School graduate, class of 1968. Barbara began an amazing career with Shell/Motiva, and worked with the company until her retirement in 2018.

She was a very strong woman. She made a very difficult decision to move away from all her family and friends in her hometown of Bakersfield, California in 2006. She was diagnosed with cancer in 2009 and battled the cancer journey alongside her loving family & closest friends and always bounced back, after every surgery and many treatments. Most people would never know her struggles, as she didn’t let them be known.

Barbara was always ready to have fun whether with her husband Mike, a family gathering, Bunco parties with friends or just being with her three daughters. There was always a good time to be had by all when Barbara was around.

She is survived by her husband Michael Nickell; three daughters, Mary Rodriguez, Amy Panici and Jill Lynk; son, Alan Nickell, grandchildren, Austin, Chandler, Michael, Nicolle, Mallory, Stephanie and Ryan; eleven great grandchildren; and numerous family members in her home state of California.

Barbara was very well liked, respected and loved and will be terribly missed by all who knew her.

Mrs. Nickell’s cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
