Barney Garza, Jr.

September 16, 1952 - December 22, 2025

Barney Garza, Jr., 73, of Beaumont, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at Christus – St. Elizabeth Hospital while surrounded by his family and listening to his favorite band, The Beatles. He was born on September 16, 1952, in Beaumont, to Evangeline Sifuentes and Barney Garza, Sr.

Barney was a husband, a father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend to many.  He spent his life proudly calling Beaumont home and spent as much time as he could in the woods hunting or on the water fishing. He was passionate about Mexican food, The Beatles, and even more passionate about his family and grandchildren.

Above all else, Barney loved his family.  Whether he was offering advice on how to shoot a proper layup, kidding his youngest grandchildren about how silly they are, cheering on the Astros or just sitting around talking and enjoying time with his wife and his two sons and their families, he was happiest when he was with his family. He leaves behind countless memories, laughter, and so many “Barneyisms.”  Stories about him and impressions of his “passion” will keep up us laughing for years to come.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean Garza; his sons, Christopher Garza and wife, Lana, and Jacob Garza and wife, Melanie, all of Beaumont; and his cherished grandchildren, Isabella Grace Garza, Jacob Christopher Garza, Lucas William Garza, and Nicholas Ryan Garza, who were the undeniable highlights of his life. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda DeLaCerda, Toni Laird, Felita Price, and Camille Nelson.

Barney was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Cynthia Jordan, whom he surely greeted with a smile and probably a joke.

Memorial contributions in Barney’s honor may be made to Beaumont’s First Baptist Church, 3739 North Major Drive, Beaumont, Texas 77713.

A gathering of family and friends will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 26, 2025, at Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont. His funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at Beaumont’s First Baptist Church, 3739 North Major Drive, Beaumont, with interment to follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont.

Barney will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever quoted. His legacy lives on in the laughter he created, the family he cherished, and the love he gave so freely.
