Barnie Taylor

Barnie Taylor, 85, of Nederland, died Sunday, September 25, 2022. He was born February 25, 1937, to Letha and Samuel Taylor.

Barnie was a 1955 graduate of Nederland High School. He loved music and in his younger years he was even in a band. He loved the outdoors and spent most of his free-time hunting, fishing, or playing poker. He was a wizard at card tricks! Barnie loved the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys, especially when they were winning!

Barnie will be remembered for his incredible sense of humor, in fact, he was known as a master joke teller! He loved to tell a good joke, even if it was one he may have told you a time or two before. Above all else, Barnie cherished the time spent with his family.

Survivors include his children, Becky McCurley and husband, Mitchell, of Port Neches; Elizabeth Holder, of San Antonio; Sammy Taylor, of Vidor; and Rickey Taylor and wife, Laura, of Silsbee; grandchildren, Matt, Tim, Ricky, Jason, Jamie, Jeremy, Joey, and Amber; great-grandchildren, Madison, Walker, Emma Lee, Ava Lee, Casey, and Brynlee; and niece, Brenda Jones.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Emma Lee Taylor; and sister, Zelma Lee Bourlon.

A gathering of Mr. Taylor’s family and friends will begin at 2:00 p.m., with his funeral service at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12^th Street, Nederland. His cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium, Beaumont.

The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff of Kindred Hospice and the 4^th floor nurses at Baptist Hospitals of Southeast Texas, Beaumont. As well as, Andy and Merrideth Sleet for their genuine kindness as neighbors and friends.
