Bertha Elizabeth Garcia
Bertha Elizabeth Garcia, 73, of Beaumont, went to be with the Lord on Friday, April 22, 2022. She died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones. She was born in Beaumont, Texas, on July 16, 1948, to Catherine and Domingo Lopez.
She attended Beaumont High School and graduated top of her class. She was very involved in the Hispanic community and was an advocate against discrimination in the workplace. Bertha volunteered endless, loving hours to her beloved Cristo Rey Catholic Church. She proudly served her church and community and will always be remembered for her selfless contributions.
She is preceded in death by late husband, Emilio Sanchez, Sr.; parents, Catherine and Domingo Lopez; sister, Eloise Price (Lulu); nephews, Michael Doyle and Chase Lopez; and others who are dearly missed.
She is survived by her husband, Marcelino Garcia, Sr. and her children, Kimberly Teneyuque, Lisa Smith and husband Ross, Emilio Sanchez, Jr. and wife Laura, Marcelino Garcia, Jr., and wife Christina, and Catarina Mouton and husband Aaron; 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; siblings, Rose Marie Doyle (Rosie) and husband Edward, Catherine Ann Gunter (Annie) and the late Ralph Gunter, Sebastian Lorenzo Lopez (Taty) and wife Carol, and Thomas Lopez (Tommy) and wife Brenda; and a host of family and friends.
Her cremation arrangements will be handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Cristo Rey Catholic Church, 767 Avenue A, Beaumont, Texas 77701.

Your mom was such a sweet and wonderful lady. I have so many fond memories of her (hanging out and talking, making tortillas, going to dances, going to your grandparents and so many more). She always made me feel so welcome. She was a sweet spirit. My deepest condolences to each of you.
