Bertha Faye Hoffpauir
Bertha Faye Hoffpauir, of Spring, died Friday, November 22, 2024. She was born on February 10, 1926, to Frankie Barrow and Ivy Barrow, in High Island, and she lived a long life of 98 years.
In her years of growing up, she saw the Depression, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, and so many more that I’m sure she could tell you some stories of. Bertha loved planting her flowers in the spring. Sometimes she would have planted over 100 flowers, and she’d admire every single one. She loved to sew and wanted to continue to sew up until the day she was too sick to do so. She loved her animals and had a cat named, Friskey, who died at the ripe old age of 19. Everyone knew her pride and joy were her dachshund, Barney, who was her loyal sidekick for 14 years. Never one to be parted from Barney, he will be laid to rest with Bertha since it was always her wish for him to remain by her side.
Survivors include her son, Jimmy McCreight and wife, Lucia, of New Caney; daughter, Priscilla Spillers of Spring; sister, Mildred Fountain of Winnie; grandchildren, Lynn Grimsley and husband, Joe; Gwen Hart and husband, Ronnie; Tanya Bott and husband, Bubba; Josh McCreight and wife, Holly; Dustin McCreight and wife, Taylor; and Eric Kessler; 13 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous friends and loved ones through the years.
Bertha is preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, Eugene Barrow and James Sherman Barrow; and her sister, Lillie Mae Andres.
A gathering of Mrs. Hoffpauir’s family and friends will begin at 11:00 a.m., with her funeral service at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer, Winnie. Her interment will follow at High Island Cemetery, High Island.
