Betty Ann Key Haisten
Betty Ann Key Haisten, 93, of Beaumont, died Sunday June 12, 2022, at Harbor Hospice, Beaumont. She was born on August 22, 1928, in Goose Creek, Texas, but grew up in Galveston.
She was married to Dr. Maurice Wyatt Haisten for forty-seven years. Before her marriage, she worked in banking with her last position being held as vice president of a bank in New Orleans, Louisiana. She also modeled for department stores in Houston and wrote articles on etiquette and fashion for the Houston Chronicle. After marriage, she became a devoted wife and mother. She also volunteered for the Neches River Festival, Texas Medical Auxiliary Association, with her final position as Southeast Regional President. At 72, she became a CASA volunteer for 16 years. Betty was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church serving on several committees, an Elder of the church, and eventually a greeter.
Betty lived a full life devoted to caring for others. She was a loving wife and devoted mother to her 5 children. Her love for God and church was strong. She would say she loved every minute of living but yet was not afraid of death as she was good with God. Her strength and independence were admired by all that knew her. Betty was loved by many and will be missed, but not forgotten.
Survivors include her children, Susan Haisten and Penny Haisten Kavanaugh; grandchildren, Jill Miller, Jim Miller, Kris Kavanaugh, Kevin Kavanaugh, and Josh Kavanaugh; eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Bonnie Hauge.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Wyatt Haisten; children, George Haisten, Thomas Haisten, and Lisa Haisten; sister, Peggy Bass; and parents, Cecil Key and Bonnie Frank Velton.
A memorial service for Mrs. Haisten will begin at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, June 25, 2022, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 1350 North 23rd Street, Beaumont, with reception to follow in the fellowship hall. Her cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium under the direction of Broussard’s, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.

The last time I saw Betty, Thomas was with her—both smiling wide, looking forward to lunch together. Of the many memories, some funny and happy, others sad, this is the one I’ll keep foremost in my heart. The Haistens were dear neighbors and everlasting friends.
I loved Betty so much. Had a hug for her every Sunday. She was a beautiful and caring person who will be greatly missed.
I went to church with Betty’s son Thomas and I knew her through him. Every time I saw her she had a smile on her face and dressed like a lady. Betty I know you are now happy to be home with Wyatt, Thomas and Lisa. Give Thomas a kiss for me.

Sincere condolences. Betty was a beloved friend from our years at CASA. Betty was an avid CASA Volunteer who worked tirelessly for her CASA kids, year after year visiting them, mentoring them, loving them, and advocating for them at every court hearing. She was kind, funny and an encourager, who attended the Swearing In of every new class of CASA Volunteers. Rest with Jesus Betty, and God bless and comfort your family.

Betty just one of the first Woman I met when I moved Beaumont 1974. A lovely beautiful woman, she was always friendly to everyone. The last time I saw Betty, her face brightened as she always treated me like a old friend. My deepest sympathy to her children and her family.
I am so terribly sorry to hear of Bettys death.
she was the sweetest person. I loved being with her in our investment club. We would talk with each other on a regular basis. I think of her when I make the pea and shoe peg corn casserole. My prayers are with her family.
Betty was one of the sweetest, classiest ladies we have ever known. She had “her pew” at church every Sunday. She will be greatly missed,
