Betty Jane Turner Allen

February 11, 1935 - January 1, 2026

Betty Jane Turner Allen, 90, of High Island, died Thursday, January 1, 2026. She was born on February 11, 1935, in High Island, to Taft and Margaret Turner.

Betty was a lifelong resident of the High Island area and a proud graduate of High Island High School, Class of 1953. She spent many years serving her community through her work, beginning in 1983 at a local store in Gilchrist, where she remained until her retirement in 2008. Never one to slow down, Betty continued working by mowing yards around High Island until 2019. She especially enjoyed playing wahoo with family and friends, creating countless memories filled with laughter and friendly competition.

She is survived by her daughters, Laurie and her husband, Jimmy Willson of Dayton and Christy and her husband, Randy Day of Kirbyville; grandchildren, Hollie and her husband, Johnny Guerra of Dayton, Brian Stanley of Porter, Derrick and wife, Krista Day of Kirbyville, Kelsie and her husband, Justin Smith of Silsbee, Jim and his, wife Jenny Willson of Houston, and J.J. Willson of Houston; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Juanita Hall and her parents.

Memorial contributions can be made to High Island Cemetery, 1836 ½ 4th Street, High Island, Texas 77623.

A gathering of Ms. Allen’s family and friends will begin at 1:30 p.m., with her graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2026, at High Island Cemetery, 1836 ½ 4th Street, High Island, under the direction of Broussard’s, 134 West Buccaneer Drive, Winnie.
